Newlywed, TTC, help!

Hi, I've been a lurker on this board for a little while now, and now I need some help! I was married 3 weeks ago, and I was a virgin until then. My periods have been fairly regular (25, 26, 27 day cycles, never been on BC) and I was ovulating all throughout my honeymoon.
I had taken a test the day before AF was expected and it was negative. AF came one day later, spotted and brown, then abnormally heavy and then suddenly stopped after about 2.5 days when it's usually 5 days long. I still have some abdominal cramping and nausea, my face is broken out as well.
I don't know where else to ask this but I'm so confused! Is my cycle messed up because I'm now "active"?? Should I take another test? Any advice would be appreciated!

  • If you had an abnormally heavy period, you are not pregnant at this time. How did you figure out when you were ovulating? Just an FYI, but any app where you just put in your cycle dates and lengths is basically guessing off an average and is in no way accurate. You should check out the TTGP blog and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility (by Toni Weschler) to learn about TTC and how your body really works. GL!

  • I chart my cycle to figure out when I'm ovulating and I have been monitoring my CM. It was just really strange to have "normal" periods for years then suddenly this, as soon as I started being sexually active. Just coincidence then!

How do you chart your cycle?  CM is a secondary sign for ovulation and cannot confirm it.  The only way to confirm is by tracking your BBT every day or having an ultrasound, and as PP said, ovulation is only a few minutes long and wouldn't continue "throughout" your honeymoon.

Sounds like your period decided to change up on you this month.  It happens.  You're "regular" until you aren't.  I'm going to go with it didn't change because you're now sexually active, either.  Probably more to do with the craziness of getting married.
