Transition to cow's milk .. diaper rash..

DD has no issues switching to cow's milk at 12 months and now I've just weaned DS and he's been drinking whole milk for about a week, more so in the past few days.  He has been pooping more often and now has some pretty bad diaper rash.  I am thinking it is his body adjusting to the milk..curious if anyone else had this? I hope it doesn't take long to adjust..I hate seeing his butt so red!

Dang.... has he had a lot of dairy before the switch to WCM? Like yogurt and cheese? Mine is a yogurt-holic so I was pretty confident we'd have an easy switch. 

I did have to discontinue using Target diapers because the new liners were giving him a rash. No problems since switching. 

Can you try switching to coconut or almond milk for a week and see if it clears up? Then reintro WCM slowly? 

I'm just throwing out ideas here. I just hate diaper rash so much.

Yea he eats yogurt every day and LOVES cheese.  I thought about switching to soy or almond milk so maybe if he continues this, I'll try that in a couple days.  I also use Target diapers (during the day) and Pampers at night and nap time..now I'm using Pampers all the time just in case that might help..

I will say if it's not responding to normal diaper rash creams, I had success mixing a little hydrocortisone cream in with his usual nightly aquaphor slather. Poor little baby butts.

Not doing WCM due to milk sensitivity/intolerance. He's on soy milk instead and that's worked out really well.

When he was having more dairy than he could handle he had diarrhea, gas, eczema, and a diaper rash. That was just yogurt and cheese though.

I wouldn't wait for his system to adjust. I'd use unsweetened almond or soy and introduce WCM later.
