Thanks for running this check-in @spinsoffresonance

How's breastfeeding going this week? Any issues? Breastfeeding is going great. It was so nice to not work so I didn't have to pump. Like @lissiehoya, the only issue seems to be biting. DD just laughs when I tell her "no biting".

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? DD is 28 weeks old today. She goes about 3-4 hours in between feedings. She sleeps a solid chunk of 8-10 hours before waking up for a diaper change and to eat.

EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? As of today I am supplementing. I started crying mixing the bottles this morning. I know it's fine and I made it to by EBF goal of six months, but I still feel guilty. I'll continue to pump at work and nurse her in the mornings/evenings/weekends. I just can't produce 20 oz a day for her. I hope she does okay with them at DC. She has been on solids for about a month now. We do BLW. She has oatmeal and a fruit mixed with BM every day for breakfast. Lunch usually consists of steamed veggies and some yogurt. We don't always do dinner, but if we do, she gets whatever we eat. She loved Thanksgiving!

Raves and rants? Rave: So happy to have made it to our 6 month goal of EBF. Rant: I know I shouldn't feel guilty because it is perfectly fine to give a baby formula, but of course I'm having major mom guilt and DH doesn't seem to get it.

Anything else you want to share? I am so sick of the pump. I have a work-trip in April - headed to New Orleans and I would like to be completely done with BFing but ONLY because I don't want to have to deal with pumping while "out". The work trip will be 5-6 days. DD will be just shy of 11 months. What would you do?

  • How's breastfeeding going this week? Any issues?   Going fine.  LO's sleep schedule (or lack thereof) is making it hard for me to consistently pump in the mornings before work, so I worry that my supply will be impacted.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night?
6 months old last Friday.   He can go up to 3 hours during the day.  At night, he's all over the map.  He'll sleep 80 minutes or 8 hours and I never know what to expect or how to influence it.

EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids?  EBF and just started solids 2 nights ago.

Rant / Anything else you want to share?   Like Lissiehoya, my LO is at the point that he'll only go to sleep if I feed him.  I don't know how to fix it and I'm so sad.   I feel like I've been duped or that I missed a memo somewhere along the way.  From the beginning, I've fed on demand and tried to watch for hunger signs so that he wouldn't get over hungry.   And I feel like that has contributed to our sleep problems.   When he wakes up MOTN, he can't be comforted back any other way.  I know it is normal for babies to be attached to their mamas, but my DH is sad that he can't do anything to comfort DS.  When he gets upset, only I will do.  It causes me anxiety.  I feel like I can't leave the house for more than a couple hours at a time because I know that DS won't go to sleep.   I don't regret breastfeeding and I hope to continue to at least 12 months, but I feel like I've not done it the right way.  Where I used to be proud of my breastfeeding success, I now feel like I've somehow done it wrong and created problems for my little guy.  :(

It's going well in general, no biting yet here. She doesn't have teeth yet but feels like it may happen soon :-/

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night?
She will be 28 weeks tomorrow and will go 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 at night. If I'm lucky she will sleep 5 hours before she wakes for her motn feeding.

    EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids?
EBF and starting to give solids during dinner if she's been boob fed recently.

    Raves and rants?
Gave up the pump!!! Just too exhausting. Props to you working mommas who are still doing it! I was only pumping twice a day cause dd would get a bottle from DH but done with that now.

Anything else you want to share?
Never again will I give DD prunes [-X she was fussy and hadn't gone number two longer than usual. But man do those prunes just let everything out!

  • @kendy20‌ I gave my then 18m old one prune and ended up cleaning explosive diarrhea for 2 days. Not trying it again for a very long time!

How's breastfeeding going this week? Any issues? Great. Except same as @Lissiehoya‌ and @QOTR‌ this kid only falls asleep if sucking on a boob and is up all night because she has zero self soothing ability.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 6.5months, eats every 2 hours during the day and roughly every 1.5 hours at night. We don't get any long stretches of sleep at all.

EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids? EBF and doing BLW, she still hasn't quite figured out how to get the food in her mouth.

Rave: Clogged duct is gone. Rant: I also feel like I failed at sleep. I was trying to not BF at every single night waking a couple weeks ago and it was starting to work. But now we're visiting my mom. DD1, DD2, DH and I are all sleeping in the same room. So i stick DD2 on the boob as soon as she wakes up so she won't wake DD1 up and now night sleep is awful again, she wakes up almost every hour and ends up sleeping half the night in my bed so she can dreamfeed. Huge fail! We're here for another 3 weeks, I'm worried!

  • @spinsoffresonance, did your DD1 go through this?  How did it resolve?

  • Hope it's okay if I join in- I haven't been very active on this board.

How's breastfeeding going this week? Any issues?  Pretty well.  I think LO is cutting another tooth, though- he's been rough nursing.

How old is LO ? How long between feedings? What is the longest LO sleeps at night? 7 months tomorrow.  During the day he nurses every 2-3 hours, or has 3 bottles at DC.  At night.... another sleeping fail.  He has woken as few as 1-2 times per night. But over the past two months the trend seems to be every 3 hours (or even every 2 like last night), with an occasional good night thrown in. I nurse him before bed, but put him down awake and he falls asleep just fine.  At night he genuinely seems hungry most of the time.  :(

EBF, EP, supplementing, started solids?  Started solids about 6 weeks ago.  He's loving them!

Raves and rants? Just the whole sleep thing.  I've tried letting him go back to sleep on his own, but whenever I do that it seems like he has a dirty diaper, or is genuinely hungry. I do better when I realize I have no control over how many times he gets up.

@QOTR DD1 didn't nurse to sleep (except maybe for the first 6 weeks) We aimed for an EASY schedule and she went down drowsy but awake. I was working a lot back then so she was in daycare during the week and with DH on the weekends. Daycare really taught her how to fall asleep alone!
