FTM - severe pain, not sure what it is exactly

I am a FTM due December 15 with my baby girl. I'm 38 weeks. My last two appointments with ob, my cervix was posterior but very soft and i wasn't dilated yet. The last two nights I have had contractions that are unbelievably painful and almost make me double over in pain. Ican't even go pee without one starting, in fact sometimes it seems to trigger the start of one. Is that possible? They haven't been close together or necessarily regular so I'm not sure what to do. Changing positions doesn't help and the last one, I couldn't even stand my legs were shaking so bad. And my lower back hurts today too. I've been drinking plenty of water and have had no health issues during the pregnancy. Do any of you ladies know what I should do?

Re: FTM - severe pain, not sure what it is exactly

  • I've had a couple of these take-your-breath-away contractions. General rule is if you have more than 4 in an hour, call your doctor or midwife. Also continue drinking lots of water. My midwife said dehydration is the number one cause of early labor. Good luck!

  • Call your OB. The description sounds more like a bladder or kidney issue. You want to get antibiotics.
