I am 17 weeks, 3 days and have still not felt any flutters or movement from the baby. Everywhere I read, people have felt it before now or earlier then this. I am a first time mom. Should I have felt it by now?
I felt something last night but I have no idea what it actually was. I was sleeping on my right side- side where baby tends to be (center-right). I happened to have my hands on my stomach/pelvis and felt this like "thumping" sensation. I could only feel it though if I had my hands on it. Not sure what it was or if anything. I am a FTM as well.
With DD it took a while until I could 100% tell that I was having flutters. They eventually became stronger and more obvious. Between that and baby/placenta positioning it's not always a given to feel it at this stage. Hang in there!
I'm a STM and over 17 weeks and I'm not really feeling the baby yet. I have felt a few things, but not totally convinced it was the baby. With my first I didn't feel anything until around 21-22 due to anterior placenta. It will happen soon. But I'm like you- I can't wait!
I feel baby mostly when I lay flat on my back or on my stomach on the floor. It doesn't always happen, but if/when it does it's not mistakable. Im a ftm but I have been laying still a lot mostly to ease all the headaches I've been getting. I'm 16w2d but started feeling little movements at 14w6d.
OP don't worry, every pregnancy is different and each mother will feel different movements at different times. As the other PPs have said, it's normal to not "feel" movement until 20wks or later sometimes. Baby is moving but being a FTM is probably hard to distinguish that it's actually baby vs something else. I'm 18wks now, also a FTM, and I have yet to really feel movement. There are times I think it's baby, but it could still be also gas, things moving etc... You will know when it happens. Don't stress. If you are still concerned after a few weeks, talk with your doctor for reassurance. Good luck.
I love this post. I have moments of panic about this. At 18w4 people keep asking if I've felt anything and give me a sympathetic look when I say no, which then makes me worry! This pPat reminds me that it's completely normal not to feel anything for another week or two
I admittedly have been so neurotic about this. Almost 18 weeks and nothing. But, the reality is, once I do feel something I'll start worrying about whether I'm feeling it consistently, etc. There will always be something new to freak out about!
My husbands grandma asked me at thanksgiving "so have you felt any life yet" ...
I just stared at her With a blank look on my face. Who says that?? And no no, I haven't. But I'm 18 weeks today and I think I felt something. But who knows.
I'm a STM and even with that at over 17 weeks I am not sure I've felt anything yet. I "think" there might have been a few moments that I felt something but I really don't know for sure even with prior experience. So don't worry too much!
With my first I was about 22 weeks. It feels kinda like gas ?? I am currently 16 weeks and can just now feel her, when she flips I can feel my organs move and I get nuaesed.
I hope that helps! You really won't feel kicks for a while
I felt this one for the first time last night. I was bent over to hang bells on the door handle and there they were. With my first, I felt him at 17 weeks.
Didn't feel flutters until 20 weeks with my DS. You're totally fine not feeling anything at 18 weeks... Often depends on placement of placenta, etc.etc.
I THINK I might be feeling movement. I am 14 weeks and. FTM. Yesterday, at my OB appointment, the nurse was trying to get the HB with the Doppler. She got it briefly, but then made the comment, "It looks like someone in there doesn't want to be bothered," just as a ripple moved just slightly across my lower belly. She moved the Doppler to the area of the ripple and found the HB again. When the Dr came in, I asked her about it. She said my uterus is tilted way forward so it is very possible even though it is so early. I still can't tell what is gas vs cramps vs baby movements. It is all very strange to me.
Ftms usually start to recognize baby's movements around 20 weeks. This is my second and started noticing what I thought might be movement at 15 weeks. I'm now 17 weeks and 3 day and definitely feel baby move. But your uterus is larger with your second than with your first so don't compare yours to second or third time mom's. I'm sure baby is fine.
18 wks 2 days and ftm and I swear I feel little thumps I don't know for sure if it's her but I have a gut feeling that it has to be because I've never felt that sensation before
STM, 18 w and just now getting some definite baby action. I got a series of good solid kicks this afternoon - I was like, "Oh, THERE you are! Finally!" I'm pretty sure this is later than with my first, when I thought it was supposed to be earlier with later babies. But if this means I've got a less-rambunctious child in there, I'm ok with it!
I'm a FTM, 17 weeks tomorrow, and I felt the baby for the first time tonight while I was listening to the heartbeat with my doppler. I heard the baby move around and then felt (and heard) the baby kick the doppler. Funny and adorable all at the same time. :-)
Gosh...so jealous reading all of these. I'm 19w tomorrow and still nothing. Think I've started imagining movements now. Can't wait til our scan next week so I can make sure everything's well with LO
