Has anyone tried taking their August 2012 kids ice skating yet? If you have, did you use any special gear (padded pants, helmet, etc.?) DD has good balance and I think she might think it's fun to go around a rink a few times. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has tried it.
BFP #1 9/2010 (lost our baby at 21 weeks)
BFP #2 8/2011 (ectopic pregnancy)
BFP #3 10/2011 (chemical pregnancy)
BFP #4 12/2011 (Abigail born 8/15/12)
BFP #5 5/2013 (Griffin born 1/23/14 with heart defects, now repaired!)
Kate wants to so badly because we sat in the bleachers and watched my husband, but we haven't let her yet. She pretends to skate all the time. I'm thinking next year. I'll have her wear a hockey helmet, probably hockey pads and I will rent one of those little walker like contraptions. My biggest worry is that she will fall and someone will run over her hand/fingers with their skates. My dad witnessed that happen once.
ETA I saw several kids with bike helmets, but my husband is a former hockey player, so he's insisting on the full Monty of hockey garb.
Jacqueline has not, but DH wants to take her this year. A couple 2012 kids I know have been skating already, one of them is in lessons. I think hockey helmets are important and additional padding too. I know how to skate, but I'm not a big fan of it personally.
