Varicose veins

This last pregnancy I had some vaginal varicose veins. They are still bothering me now, 5 months post delivery. Sex is painful and excercise causes discomfort afterwards. I've been to the doctor, apparently there is not much that can be done. There isn't a lot I can find online about this, except that the worst of the discomfort should be over by a year, but the problem may always remain.

I was shocked to find out that this could happen to begin with (we talk about stretch marks and such but not vaginal varicose veins) and am shocked that this an ongoing problem.

Just wondering if anyone else still has ongoing problems with this and, if so, if there is anything that has given some relief.

It would be nice to know how others are coping. I find it's not something that comes up easy in real life. Thank you!

I remember this topic coming up during our pregnancies, because I did not know this really happened.  I googled it and felt terrible for anyone dealing with it.

Sorry that this is still an issue for you.  Check out the search feature and hopefully you can find some suggestions for relief.

I'm sorry you are still dealing with this. I had horrible veins in my left groin area during my pregnancy, I am very lucky that they have all disappeared. You should request to see a vein specialist if you haven't already. They will do something like a sonogram of the veins and may be able to remove them. Exercise helps with veins as do compression pantyhose. I'm sorry I don't have more answers, but I know that a lot of women develop this condition and I know it is horrible. My physical therapist has been working on the muscles and ligaments in the area where I had the veins, she told me the congestion in the area may have caused them.

Oh no. Mine dissipated shortly after delivery. I feel just terrible for you and wish I had a magic answer. I didn't know they could stick around after. :(
