Newbie - Intro

Hello...My name is Leilani. I am 33 and my husband is 32 and we've been trying to conceive for about a year and a half now. I started my first cycle of IUI with Clomid and a trigger shot back in October. The only issue seems to be that my husband's motility is slightly abnormal and morphology was on the low side...I just completed my second cycle a couple of weeks ago but I've had some pretty painful cramps the last couple of days so I'm thinking that the IUI and Clomid were unsuccessful again...keeping my fingers crossed that I'm wrong. Since this process has required us to take time off work, coupled with the fact that we've both gotten sick in the last couple of weeks so we took more time off work, we are considering skipping a cycle or two if this current cycle is not successful. I'm wondering if that would be a bad idea...any thoughts on that?

Hi and welcome. Skipping a cycle or two is really up to you and where you stand financially and emotionally, I think. If you are willing to wait a little longer and have a good reason to hold off, then go for it. A year and a half really isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things (I have been trying for over three years and am not willing to put a hold on one cycle unless I have to for dire reasons. We did have to take a little break a while back because DH lost his job for example.)

Sorry you find yourself here. I have taken a couple of breaks due to mental sanity/scheduling conflicts. You should do what's best for you and DH, especially if you are oop.

After first RE appt, we had to put things off for 2 cycles so I could take some students on an exchange trip. Although I want to be able to say that family building comes before work, it's also scary to keep asking off month after month!

Welcome! Sorry you find yourself here. It can be really difficult to juggle work, family, friends and IF. I agree what the other ladies have said. Taking a break isn't the easiest thing in the world, but it can also be a necessary mental and physical break. We had to take this cycle off because of a cyst, and as everyone here can attest, I was none to happy about it at first. The break has turned into a fairly good experience though, and I guess we needed a breather more than I thought we did. So do what you both need to do. IF, unfortunately, is more of a marathon than a sprint. Good luck!

I just wanted to join in and say welcome, though I am sorry you have to be here. I agree with what PP said. You have to do what you feel is right. If you think waiting a little while is what needs to happen and DH agrees then that is what you should do.
