Help with selecting a crib mattress

Hi ladies,

I need some advice please.  Is there really a big difference in crib mattresses?  There is a very wide price gap, and I was just wondering if it was really worth an extra 100+ dollars to get a certain mattress.

What was or is your criteria for getting them and which one did you choose?

Thanks for your help and advice :)

  • I think every kid is different, some kids can fall asleep on floors, highchairs, etc.  For me . . . I got a hand me down mattress for my second boy and he couldn't fall asleep on it.  So I went out and bought the same one my other son had bought for him when he was little (it was expensive but not the top of the line) and he's slept like a dream ever since!
  • We bought a mattress that is firm on one side (infant) and soft on the other (toddler). It is more expensive that the infant ones, which are just firm, but it will save is money in the long run. We bought a safety 1st mattress.
