Outlander question

So I haven't read any of the books but I loved the series on Starz. Can I start with the second book, or do I need to read the second one to know what's going on? Did they skip a lot of the book in season one?

Anyone know when season 2 starts? I'm obsessed!

I haven't watched the series so I don't know how they match up but I would probably start with the first book.

The first season was only part of the first book. There's still a lot more to come, so start with the first book. It's way better than the second book, anyway.

I haven't watched the series, but I recall that it wasn't all of the first book as PP said. The Outlander series isn't my usual genre to read, but the first book is what hooked me. I'd say that if you liked the premise of the show, you definitely need to read the first book.

The first season isn't over yet. They are on the midseason break and it picks up again in April. Definitely start with the first book

DO NOT START WITH THE SECOND.

Read the original in all its glory. they only went through the wedding in the series, so you still have LOTS of book left. Maybe you've watched just over half of the book, but oh so much plot left. 

And yes, read it. You will start it an feel a little, um, impatient for Claire to fall through those stones, but it is worth the read for some details the TV series cannot really do justice.
