2nd Trimester

Pregnancy and child rearing books recs.

I have read nothing so far.. What have people read that they like and found helpful? I plan to add some stuff to my Christmas list.

Re: Pregnancy and child rearing books recs.

  • Second the rec for Happiest Baby on the Block- it's lifesaving for the first 3-4 months!

  • Omg, how have you not read anything? :-O

No offense but it is a must to have at least a pregnancy book! I recommend What to Expect and the Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy. They are similar but the tone of the books are very different.

I personally have picked up Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth and Bringing up Bébé. I plan on also getting The Happiest Baby on the Block and Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Breast Feeding.

Believe me, the more books you get yourself only means he more educated and prepared you'll be. Good luck.
  • I really loved Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, What to Expect When You're Expecting, and What to Expect The First Year. I'm currently reading Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way and it seems pretty good. Goes along with my attitude and how I would like my birth to go. Thank you for posting this question because I love new book ideas. Will be downloading Happiest Baby on the Block.

@theinvadermothership There's no reason to shame her for not reading when she's come here to ask for book recommendations.  It makes you look like a giant douche.

Save your judgy-mcjudgerson attitude for those who have no intention of reading anything and using the boards for their personal google.

It wasn't meant to be judging. I was honestly shocked. I guess i expect this on the 1st tri boards, not second. So much happens and yeah... i think my books were a great help while a lot of changes and symptoms happened at once. So yeah, color me several shades of shocked. If that offends you, sorry, but that's the truth of it.

Andplusalso i also gave several book recs sooooo....

And i can't tell if you are snarky or being serious bc half your post was telling me off and the other was being snarky and making fun of the drive by posters that frequently use board regulars as google.

Oh well, i stand by what i say. Please read a book. There are some really great ones out there and information is good!

  • I read "What To Expect." My pediatrician gave me a copy (yes, gave, for free. It was amazing) of "Heading Home With Your Newborn: From Birth to Reality" and I really, really liked that one as well. It was very informative without being dry.

  • I also explained myself. And what i stood by was to please get books and read them bc education is awesome. It helps empower yourself and honestly, helped me not freak out as much. And that's all i said. I was shocked and that here are some great book recs, this is what I'm reading, this is what i plan on picking up.

And maybe... people would post here more often if they weren't attacked for doing so. I'm quite active on my bmb and would love to participate on more boards. But whatever. You don't scare me and your name calling and condescending attitude is better saved for someone really trying to shit stir. Just saying.
