Questions re positioning

Hi All,

First I wanted to thank everyone here for the support over the last couple months.  I post very rarely, but have found reading the boards immensely helpful.

I found out today at my ultrasound that both babies are feet down and now I have a couple of questions (which I will also ask my OB but I don't see her for another 2 weeks).

1) How common is it for babies to turn after this point (I'm 26 weeks).  If I recall from my singleton, its still relatively early both with twins I can't imagine they have much space.
2) For those that have had a c-section -- what do I need to know about what to take to hospital? recovery? especially recovery with a 2 year old at home?

Thanks in advance!
Jen

I say you have plenty of time for them to flip--- mine never did but it can happen.

As for what to pack, same as with a vaginal delivery- but I would make sure the clothes are loose and that you have slippers with hard soles- so that you can wear them home.  I was sooo swollen after my c/s that I had to wear my slippers home.

Everyone's recovery is different.  I was up and moving as soon as they let me.  I was off pain meds- prescription at 8 days and OTC at 10 days.  I was walking up and down stairs from the time I went home at 5 days.  I drove myself to the NICU at 10 days - I could have done it earlier but my husband was home since it had been the weekend.

  • They def have time to flip, but w that being said, my baby A went breech around 19w and never went back. B flipped back and forth up until the end.

I did have a c/s. Baby A stayed breech and his cord prolapsed when his water broke. It was very emergent and I had nothing with me. You don't really need anything right away. Take the pain meds and the stool softener. Get up and walk around as much as possible. Take all the help you can get.

  • My baby b was constantly flipping. I ended up with an u/s at the hospital to determine which position he was in. He was transverse at 36 weeks and when I delivered at 38 weeks he was head down again. Baby a stayed head down the whole time.

    I didn't have a c-section.
