Adoption

Intro - direct placement adoption

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself because I have been quite the lurker recently and thought it would be nice to actually comment in this board. My husband and I recently decided that we would like another child. We already have two wonderful boys, ages 7 and 2. I am hesitant to get pregnant again because my oldest was born 10.5 weeks early due to my being preeclamptic and with my second I had to have another emergency csection because of decelerations of his heart rate, during the csection my uterus was found to be abnormally thin and the doctor said had we proceeded with labor it most likely would have ruptured. She advised that rupture may be possible with future pregnancies. Therefore, my husband and I started looking into adoption. A couple weeks ago we even went to an adoption orientation to start the process. A week after going to the orientation we find out that my 19 year old cousin was pregnant and placing the baby up for adoption. We shared our desire to adopt with my cousin and she has decided that she would like us to adopt the baby. She is roughly 12-15 weeks pregnant, we will know more after her dating ultrasound once her medicaid transfers to the county she currently lives in. We are very excited and our family (my side) is very supportive. However, we are somewhat nervous though because my cousin does not believe that the father will support her decision. However, our attorney believes that due to his circumstances the adoption will still take place. This has all happened so fast, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed and trying to learn as much as possible very quickly. Thank you for letting me share my story and I look forward to getting to know all of you wonderful people.
