when did you take newborn out?

Besides dr appts, when does everyone plan on taking their newborn out? Grocery store, restaurants, friends houses, etc?

I realize I'm the outlier here, but I took him out the day we got home from the hospital for a doctor appointment and lunch with DH. I've taken him out quite a few times since then- Target, restaurants, etc. He usually just sleeps the whole time. I drive myself crazy staying in the house.

I drive myself pretty crazy too, I'm just worried about all the germs flying around, but I don't want to be one of those overly anxious moms and I think dh is getting a little stir crazy ...

Day after birth we went to my MIL's house for dinner. Day after that we went to get sushi for lunch, as it's become traditional that the fella and I take our brand new babies to sushi, lol. I second the stir crazy, especially with two young boys to entertain all day - we have to get out or we all end up snippy with each other.

2 weeks out and I'm planning on taking him to a new mom support group tomorrow and a dr appt (for me not him) Monday. I'm easing myself into taking him out on my own but will still probably avoid really public places like the mall and grocery store until he gets his 2 month shots, cause I definitely am the overly anxious FTM.

We took her out to the in laws earlier this week and will take her out to my parents this weekend. DH wants to wait until she is 4 weeks before we take her out to public places.

Other than dr appointments, we took LO out for first time at 2w4days to my parents place and next day to mall. Since then, I've taken her out here and there for short errands.

All the time from day 1.  We cover her with an A&A swaddle and no one tries to see or touch her.

We took her to a friend's house at 4 days old. Then to Target at 1 week old. And today (1week 2 days old) we're going to family Thanksgiving and then staying the rest of the weekend with my in-laws, so we'll have to go to church Sunday too.

Doctors appt at 5 days and pretty much every other day after that to the hospital. Went to target when he was a little over a week. We've been to SOs parents twice and they live 2 hours away. Going to my grandmothers Sunday and she lives 2 hours away. Beckham is 3 weeks old!

We took her out at 2 weeks to lunch outside, kept her covered with a blanket. The only thing keeping us home really is the weather, it's been so cold. I am still hesitant to take her to crowded indoor places.

But then again we went to the pediatrician at 6 days and that is definitely the germiest place on earth.

We are on day 6 and haven't taken her out yet but today's the day! We are going to the dog park this afternoon. It's pretty mild outside and it certainly won't be crowded. We decided not to go to a cousin's Thanksgiving because of crowds and potential germs/illness, so I'm definitely on team cautious FTM but some fresh air might do us both good.

Andplusalso we are tired and each outing (to the pediatrician, which is all we've done so far) requires lots of energy and preparation. I'm sure I'll feel differently next week but I'm happy staying home maybe because DH is here.

I've taken her out several times on short trips. Like pp said though, she sleeps the whole time and I rarely even have to take her out of her seat.

I would go way to stir crazy staying in the house.

I took LO to her 1 week Dr Appt and that is it. In my culture you keep the newborn indoors for 40 days.

With my first, I waited 2 weeks.

With this one I waited 4 days. I NEEDED Starbucks!

We had to go back to the hospital the day after we were discharged for a blood test.

Haven't been out since. I'd consider it, but my stitches feel awful. Worse instead of better in fact.

If I remember correctly, we took a trip to the park within the first week. We've also gone to the mall, Target and the supermarket. I would drive myself crazy not going out.

DS will be 3 weeks tomorrow and he's only been out twice, both times to the pedi. I just don't feel comfortable taking him out yet. Plus, I'm still feeling kind of crappy so part of it is that *I* don't want to be out in public yet.

Very much against DH's wishes, I am taking him to my uncles house for thanksgiving today. He was so against it that he is not coming with us. He is going to his moms to eat. I could just slap the pediatrician in the face for putting the fear in him like she did. He is convinced the baby will get sick and we will have to take him to the ER.
I am sure this is the first of many times we won't agree on what is ok and not ok for the baby.

We've been out a few times and Addy is 2 weeks old today. We took her to the mall for Santa pics, out for lunch twice, and a walmart trip. Like everyone else said, she sleeps in her carseat the whole time and we keep her covered.

My LO is 2 weeks old today and I've only taken him to the pediatrician, my ILs, and my parent's house. I wouldn't be opposed to taking him somewhere else but I'm extremely anxious bc I'm EPing and I'm just afraid of how to make sure I have enough BM for him when we go out. It freaks me out that I might not be able to feed him if he's hungry.

Well, color me crazy. Our daughter is barely shy of six weeks and has only been to the pediatrician's office.
We've been outside, just not to any stores or over to anyone's house. I started to take her out with me earlier this week and my husband said absolutely not... that if I needed to go anywhere before xmas when he's not home that he'd call in sick and watch her. He's another one that took the 2 month guideline as gospel. I'm not going to argue that (even though I explained that getting that first round of vaccines means nothing for her immunity in general). If I took her out without his blessing and she did get sick I would never forgive myself... or hear the end of it.

I took our LO out within the first couple days to my school (previous teacher) and at 10 days we went for a couple hour mall walk. If they are breastfeeding they have your immunity... I would worry more about toddlers who stick hands everywhere and who aren't breastfeeding to get sick. Just my opinion as a possible naive FTM.

DD first went out to eat before she was a week old.  She is currently 16 days and has been grocery shopping, dinner, lunch, church, etc.  She goes where we go and the only person who has touched her was our priest, everyone else just looks from a distance.

Edit to add: I'm sure she would have been out more but with my c-section I can't lift her in the car seat yet so we only leave when there is someone to help me.

We went out the day after we were home from the hospital and we've been out somewhere probably every day since. I also have a 23 month old who gets as stir crazy as I do though, so it is better for us to get out when we can.

We've been out a few times for errands and such. Last weekend we went Christmas shopping and went to lunch, where I nursed in public for the first time.

Today we walked a 5k with him in the stroller and then went to thanksgiving at my in-laws. He got passed around to everyone there, which isn't really what I wanted, but oh well.

I go crazy and PPD gets pretty bad for me staying home all day.  I took LO out a couple days after getting home from the hospital.  I actually get out of the house as often as possible.  At 3 weeks old he does have a cold, I feel as though it could be my fault for bringing him out so early! But H won't run errands he always says he doesn't have time, so if I don't go it won't get done.

We've only taken him out for a doctors, a midwifery, and chiropractor appointments. Other than doctors and another midwifery appointment and, starting sometime this week, the dog park, I have no plans and am not chomping at the bit to take Jackson out. I like being able to cuddle him at home skin to skin and he eats so often that I'd run the chance of having to BF in public which I'm not sure I'm ready to do yet. I'm not too paranoid about going out in public for colds and the like because I'd just wear him so he doesn't get handled by anyone.

We have been out a ton and Lo is 12 days old. Target lactation consultants ILs house and we take DS to preschool durning the week

DS is a week old today. At 4 days old he went to the grocery store with me for thanksgiving food. At 6 days old he went to his pedi, out to lunch and Home Depot. He has another pedi weigh in at 11 days old and we're doing newborn photos at a photographer's house that day and going to my OB.

We went out the day we left the hospital, she he was 3 days old. But I cant stand to be in the house too much.
