Ugh, insomnia...

Hello all. I have been more of a lurker than poster since the end of first tri, but I've been here! Is anyone else really struggling with pregnancy insomnia? I had it a little with my last two babies, but this one has been awful for the last week to ten days. I wake up to pee between 1:00 and 2:00 and then I'm up for 2-3 hours...every night. Case in point, i got up to pee at 1 and its now 2;45. I'm so tired and this can't be good for me or baby. No wonder my cold wont go away. I don't know what to do. Caffeine doesn't seem to play a role in it either. I'm almost dreading nights these days because this is so frustrating. I'd love any advice anyone has. Thanks for listening to me whine! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Re: Ugh, insomnia...

  • I'm up too. Hormones, needing to pee, and general discomfort make insomnia a common problem in the third tri. You can try some remedies like a warm bath, tea, etc, but it may not work. At this point I'm just trying to resign myself to be sleep deprived. It sucks, I feel your pain.

  • Sorry you're up too. This is by far the worst of all my pregnancies! Good luck getting back to sleep!

  • I believe they call it pregnancy. Not much longer to go though and we will have even more sleepless nights

  • Yea I'm up too... I have this Third Trimester Tea I bought from BRU n it is amazing, it just clonks me out and it tastes good.. maybe look into that if you have a BRU near u. GL :-)
  • I am up on and off all night too... my hand falls asleep and takes forever to feel halfway normal, I have a weird dream, I have to roll over, my hips hurt, my leg starts cramping, I feel sick, have to pee, yada yada yada. I am usually only half awake for all these things but it means I feel like death every day.

  • I'm in the same boat. I can barely get comfortable enough to go to sleep and then I have to get up to pee. :-(

  • Same problem..up most of the night usually until 4AM :-(  For me it is my legs hurting/back and not comfortable.  Not too much longer though so I am just dealing with it but I am miserable at night.  I move around the house all night long trying to get comfy from couches to chairs and bedroom/guestroom wherever I can pretty much try to sleep.
Live like there is no tomorrow..Love like you have never been hurt...
  • So tired but can't sleep due to a combo of back spasms, kicking and the stress that not sleeping means less sleep beside ds wakes at 6.
Stupid diminished stomach capacity means even a regular meal means lo is crammed in there and kicks ate in my back ribs and causing major back pain. Tomorrow it will be small meals or grazing, this dinner plus salad plus pie is killing me!
  • Tylenol PM has become my good friend. I don't use it every night, but it does the trick when I need it. Few too many sleepless nights with anxiety and I had had it.
  • I believe they call it pregnancy. Not much longer to go though and we will have even more sleepless nights

Thanks for your wisdom. I have two other kids and have never had it this bad...while pregnant or after they arrived...and neither of my kids were sleepers...and still aren't.

  • I sleep better when I have the bed to myself these days. When hubby is home and I get like that, I head to the recliner :-) sometimes I just do pee breaks and toss and turn and sometimes I have a 3 hour stretch of being awake.... We are closer to done everyday. I hope you get a good stretch of sleep soon!
