I really love the name Quincy for a girl, but is that a strange name?? It seems normal to me because I've pictured my future daughter being named that for so long but I wonder how it sounds to people hearing it for the first time!

I taught a boy named Quincy and a girl named Quincy when I taught pre-k. I like the name for either, but I'm sure people will assume she's a boy often when they see her name written (if that matters, most kids get over that or shrug it off)

@lustuart I agree that she might be mistaken for a boy with that first name. Did you pick a feminine middle name?
H and I both like Charlotte but with our dead common Irish last name and its rising popularity, we don't want her to be Charlotte W.
I like Anastasia, Harper, Emily, Dorothy (my grandma's name), Isabelle, Jean Louise, Hannah (my mom's name), Elizabeth, Reagan, and Larissa
Boys are harder. H likes Jack but I had a really nasty student named that so I am like no way. I like Leonard (my grandfather' name) Ben (other grandfather), Simon, Logan, Atticus, James (my dad's name), Harley, Owen, Link, and Finn
Boy will be Robert after his daddy (& the two generations before that), for a girl I like Claire, Eleanor called Nora, & Eve. I'm worried about popularity - I don't want Claire D in a class with several others, & I'm a little afraid about spellings (Nora or Norah? Claire or Clare?). Eve is probably the best choice but I'm not sure yet.
I am pretty set on naming a boy after my dad... so using Eric Paul and after my husband Matthew. I am also pretty set on naming a girl in some way after my husband
So for a boy... Eric Matthew, Matthew Paul, Eric Scott
A girl... Matty, Matilda, Mattison, Madeline... something along those lines. I love May for a middle name but I don't think DH will let that slide... a little to country.
We are always stumped on boy names. We had a horrible time trying to agree on a name for DS. We ended up with Luke (yes just Luke not Lucas) Steven (my DHs middle name and FILs first name). This time around we are equally stumped for boys names but we still love the girls name we had picked last time. For a girl we love "Olivia Jane" and not sure for a boy but I love Noah and DH just likes it but I'm hoping he'll come around because it seems like we've exhausted every option for boys names!
I have given exactly zero thoughts to girls names. I'm hoping for a second boy, to be honest. I always wanted to use James as a middle name as it's important to me, but after my brother Dave passed away in 2013, I knew I would use his name somehow if we had another boy.
The catch is, I don't like any nicknames for James and having David as a first name would just be too much for me. My husband wants to use David James (Lastname) but that is just HOLY SHIT TOO MUCH even though I know it would mean a lot to everyone. We did make the concession that if baby came (and was a boy, obvs) on Aug 3 (my brothers birthday) we would name it David James (lastname). Otherwise I've been toying with the idea of Andrew David (Lastname) for about 24 hours.
I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN TO THE DOCTOR YET MAKE IT STOP.

DH's name is Erik. It means noble ruler. It's a good name!
We knew from our last one we loved Roman Michael for a boy, so ifs it's a boy he's got a name! Which puts us leaps and bounds ahead of naming our daughter, which finally happened in the hospital after she was born (we had 3 names chosen but couldn't decide) If this ones a girl, she's screwed.
Our LN is super Greek, so to mesh with that and also keep with traditions we're keeping the name Greek (note: I'm as Irish American as it gets! Lol)
DS is Yi.anni Sta.vros
If we have a girl: Chris.oula Rose (nn Sula)
If we have a boy it's still very much in the air But I like Adamantios (adam), Stephanos, Frangiskos (Frankie, after my grandpa), Matthias/Mathiaos.
Hubby likes Dionysus (pronounced differently in Greek than the traditional Greek god of wine. I argue no one will get it right...and he'll have to correct people his whole life)
I really hope it's a girl so I don't have to figure out a name lol
We're leaning toward Hawaiian first names and Japanese or English middle names.
Right now, I like Kealohimakamae for a girl which means 'the splendor of youth'. And Kawena'ulaokala (Kawena) for a boy which describes the reddish glow of the sunset

That's an awesome idea. I'd had a masculine middle name picked out but Quincy Olivia or Quincy Sophia sound nice to me! Thanks for the suggestion @lauralou2210

Playing devils' advocate here... People rarely use their middle name with their first. For instance, on a school roster she won't be listed with her middle name and on her resume she probably would use her middle initial rather than her name. I don't think there's anything wrong with masculine names for girls (sorry baby name board!). In most cases, I think they're powerful and strong and I don't think there's anything wrong with a strong powerful name for a girl.
I would agree to pick a more feminine middle name, just in case she decides she wants to go by her middle name instead of her first. I went by my middle name most of my life. Only recently did I decide I finally grew into my very grown up name!
For a girl we really like Raegan Dawn or Rylee Kate... We have had a horrible time trying to agree on boy names... Will probably be David Cade and call him Cade. Or Caden David and call him Cade. We'll see! So exciting
I can't remember if I already commented on this thread or not. Pregnancy brain is taking over lately.
Boy: Beau Campbell (Campbell is my DH's grandfather's middle name and they are VERY close)
Girl: Noelle Lane (Lane is both of our dad's middle names)
Although we keep throwing others out there, I think we have it narrowed down to these two for now!
Like your name choices. My son's first name starts with B and his middle name is Campbell after my grandmother's (she was completely BA) maiden name.
I also love Noelle for a girl, but DH vetoed it. Humph.
@lustuart - I go by Kris, and I get mistaken for a guy somewhat frequently when my name is written down. This has not affected my life in any way. So I occasionally get called sir, worse things have happened to me. It bothers me a LOT more when people can't spell it correctly after looking at it.
I chose "Kristhegirl" because at one previous job there was another (male) Chris, and I thought it was funny that the go-to clarification was gender, rather than last name or department or something.
ohhh I always thought your name was a play on KISS the girl!... ugh... I watch too much Little Mermaid!
We're thinking Aria Rose for a girl and Wesley Archer for a boy. DD name is Natalie Aowyn and DS name is Arlington Bryant (Arlie as a nickname). It's hard when you pick out names and keep them for years...Sometimes I wish we could still have the fun of name picking all the way up until delivery. We picked all our names on a road trip in 2009 and have stuck to our list so far.
There are some great names on here. I don't want to give away our finalists so I'll give away the ones we can't use (already taken, claimed or DH says no). Hopefully someone can use em!
Liliana (Lily for short) if bean is a girl, and he wants Zeke but i like elaborate names. I was thinking Ezekiel but we're not religious so it doesnt sound quite right.
I already have : boy Finn Ross girl Amber Primrose boy Noah Hugh girl Scarlett Berry (born on Christmas Day) and girl Savannah Alice
Thinking Beatrice Rose if this one's a girl but really stuck on boys names. It gets harder the more you have - you want all the names to fit - and i've used pretty much every name on any list I've ever had!
For girls I like Scarlett Nicole. I just have to get my boyfriend on board. I also like Brynlee, Aria, and Lyla Boys are harder. I'm thinking Henry Tyler as of right now.
@Mterr11 holy moly, my DS is also Arlington. We had the intention of using Arlie most of the time, but it never stuck. So crazy to know there's another Arlington out there! That's definitely not a name you hear everyday. How old is your DS, and where did you come up with Arlington? I love it!
Re: Anyone want to discuss potential names?
no idea for a girl. I like Mabel Kimberly (Kimberly after my mom). Dh, not so much.
Boy: Beau Campbell (Campbell is my DH's grandfather's middle name and they are VERY close)
Girl: Noelle Lane (Lane is both of our dad's middle names)

Lydia or Kinsley for a girl.
I'm sure I will change my mind a million times.
Love these posts ! So fun
Girls are harder and we can't settle on anything. I like Rory, Eliza, Margot, Charlize, Madeline (but it's getting too common).
I'm trying to avoid anything ending in -son, -an, or -on. Too many names like this! Also, with our last name I think it needs to be 2 syllables.
DS is Yi.anni Sta.vros

For a boy love: Lorenzo Israel, Remmington nn Remy or Beckett
Boy: Curren, Kane, Lennox, Sullivan, Bryce
Girl: Airley, Brielle, Brynn, Wrenna, Greer, Seton
Well we have Henry Michael and Declan Todd.
I'm not in love with either of these names but...
Boy - Curtis Lee or Isaac Bradley
Girl - Eliza Lee
Lee is his mom's middle name. She passed away a few years ago and he wanted to name one of our children after her.
Boy: kellan
My two year old is Dillon Francis, and my one year old is Lily Grace
I already have :
boy Finn Ross
girl Amber Primrose
boy Noah Hugh
girl Scarlett Berry (born on Christmas Day) and
girl Savannah Alice
