The (Young) Mom-Cut. Question

Good Morning Ladies!!! I was wondering if you all could help me with a (not so important) decision. I am getting my first haircut since I was pregnant! I have a lot of thin, wavy hair that goes down to my bra line. I am looking for a style that can get out of my face easily, since Eliana loves to pull my hair! Also something low-maintenance so I don't wake her up every morning with a blow dryer. I am in my 20's so I don;t want to fall into that "Mommy Haircut" Rut and look dated. Can anyone help me out with some pictures for inspiration? MY appointment is at 12pm today! TIA Ladies!

I have thin, long, straight hair.  I have never had anything easier.  I don't blow it dry every day though so I can see why that is a hassle.
I'd suggest just cutting a few inches off so you feel refreshed.
I have had short hair many times over the years and for me it always requires more attention, more maintenance, must be kept clean(er).

  • ok, this is super cute if you want something very different:

  • Yeah that lob cut is pretty popular and like @lovethatdirtywater‌ said, if it's to your shoulders you can still pull it up. I'm probably gonna do the same thing at my appointment in January. Also, Pinterest is full of ideas.

    Wtf Scarlett!? Hahaha @bsouls‌
  • Wow, that ScarJar picture is a little scary! I was thinking the lob. DH likes longer hair but I am getting so sick of it! So I want something where he still thinks it's "long"... but maybe the "shortest" long possible, if that makes ANY sense!

  • And a "mom" cut is when you chop all of it off. When I think of Mom Cut I think of Kate (Plus 8) and Kim Kardashian's mom.

  • Okay I just saw this and hope it's not too late. But I've been considering a LONG a-line. Where the front still hits your shoulders. That way it's long enough to still pull up.

Like others have said, for me long hair is WAY easier. Braids, buns, ponys, throwing a beanie on & rocking the homeless look. But if I ever get brave I'll be getting a long a line.

  • This is what I mean. I love this girls hair. She didn't love it —already has extensions in. But I think it's SO CUTE!image

I just cut my this picture below. https://www.thesmallthingsblog.com is a great resource for easy hairstyles so you can change it up. The only issue I had, was that my hair lost a lot of body after Brooke was born, so I had to start blow drying with a round brush, and not straightening it.

ETA: I also like it, because it can work when I wear my hair curly as well. image

  • This is my most recent cut....blow drying long hair?? Ain't nobody got time for dat!
  • I feel like @kelley72‌ is me somedays.
I guess that's because we are so close in age.
I have long (waist length) straight, fine hair. I never blow dry.
It's so straight that I've had perms fall out in less than 2 weeks. :(

It's always been my understanding that a 'mom cut' is when it's chopped off short from being longer, like @Balabusta‌ said. This is to help keep little fingers out of it and make it easier to prep oneself on a daily basis.

I personally find unless I was to get it buzzed off, that my long hair is easier for me. I can do a braid or a bun to get it out of the way, but it can also be long and flowing when I want it to be.
  • @NanaCook‌ nooooo I love your long hair!!
  • I go with this cut. It grows out nice (I only get a cut every 10-14 months). My hair is not thin though. And has wave to it but mostly at the ends.

Exactly... these young'ens will learn one day.. Just kidding all!  Nothing is easier to maintain that long hair.  When you've had 40+ years of hairstyles you just figure it out!
  • Thanks for the input ladies! I ended up getting it cut just below the shoulders, no bangs and much less layers. I am still able to get it into a ponytail and it looks good curly or straight! Very similar to @lazyreader 's cut!
