Spill proof suggestions

I am letting DS try whole milk for the first time so I can try to start weaning him this week.  He's been really good with sippy cups since he was only 6 months or so (whereas DD was always FF so she did bottles for a really long time)...I tried just putting milk in the sippy cup but he makes such a mess.  It's spill proof, but he shakes it and bangs it..and then of course drools the milk out of his mouth.  This didn't matter when it was just water.  I am guessing we didn't have this problem with DD since she was older before drinking milk from a sippy cup.

I know you probably can't give many suggestions on the drooling but what is the best spill proof cup you've found?  I have so many that were suggested on here already but they just aren't cutting it.  That 360 "Wow" cup works decently but he hasn't quite figured out how to drink from it so he isn't showing much interested.
TIA!

Re: Spill proof suggestions

  • We use playtek cups, all styles. They leak a little, but not too bad when new. Plus they aren't very expensive.

I'm not much help to your question.  We use take & toss sippy cups - they're mostly leak proof but our boys have used them to drip milk out of it and make a mess on the table.  99% of the time they're drinking at the table, so it's not being dripped all over the house at least.

  • We use straw cups for milk because they take much more effort to spill. We've had good luck with the zoli cups and contigo water bottles.

  • We have Playtex ones that are pretty good. If DD shakes them violently, some milk will come out. But they're better than a lot of the ones on the market.

  • We love playtex cups. They are as good as spill proof once you have figured out how deep/shallow the valves have to go in.

  • We always used Tommy Tippee Explora cups, the straw ones and then the drinking cups.
  • We've always used Zoli bot cups. Not the most spill proof but we really like them.
We were gifted a wow cup and I was pretty impressed at how 100% spill proof it is.

  • We use Sassy grow up cups.  They don't have a spout and have been using them since DD was 1.  I love them!!!  They might spill a little if they are hit really hard, but we haven't had a major problem with them.

This. Milk was had during meals at the table. Just like throwing food, if you slam your cup around and shake it until it starts leaking, it goes away. I offered water throughout the day but that was in the kitchen only as well and was a drink and then hand it back.

  • We use the tommy tippee cups as well both the sippy and the straw cups.  The straw cups are a bit of a pain in the butt to put back together so i prefer the contigo one (they also dont leak)
