Quick Breakfast Ideas

idk if this was a post in the past. I tried looking but couldn't find any.
But I was wondering what are healthy quick breakfast ideas. My husband leaves for work super early and I try to fix him something filling and healthy without doing a big meal.
What do you guys do when you're in a hurry?

Re: Quick Breakfast Ideas

  • Make some egg cups ahead of time. Use spinach and feta or ham and cheddar. Other veggies.

You could do overnight oats. I've never made them but I know lots of people who love them. He can heat them or eat them cold.

I've seen protein energy bites on pinterest.

    Homemade granola bars.

Parfaits done a head of time. Yogurt and fruit in a mason jar. Top with granola when ready to eat.

I heard about the overnight oats as well...I need to invest in a crockpot. Lol

They aren't made in the crock pot. You make them in mason jars in the fridge.
  • I bake and freeze muffins, pancakes, and french toast.  We eat a lot of hard boiled eggs.  I've also made quick breakfast sandwiches by pre-making bacon and slightly under cooking it and the freezing it. In the am, I'll toast an english muffin, warm the bacon and make a scrambled egg for the top. I really like bean and cheese tacos using black refried beans (only 1 g fat), 2% cheese and a low carb tortilla.
Also the old standbys: yogurt, toast w/peanut butter, cereal etc.

Oatmeal casserole (make it ahead of time)
This is SOOOO good.  (yes that many Os are needed)  I'm actually making this tonight.  It lasts us a few days just because we cut huge portions out.  But some people add walnuts, I don't like nuts so I don't, I also don't use blueberries because I feel like they get mushy but to each their own.  And I usually pop in the microwave in the morning for about 30 secs to make it warm. It's fine cold but I just prefer hot.
Edit:  I also use regular oats, not gluten free.  Pain in the ass finding them and they don't last long... and I don't have issues with gluten, so I really don't care.

  • I sometimes do a double batch of pancakes and same them and eat them over the next few days. Eggs and bacon are pretty quick to make so if the pancakes are done, scramble and egg too.

I also like oatmeal/cream of wheat. I eat a lot of toast bc i need quick food to prevent me from puking.
  • Second the breakfast burritos.  I make a bunch ahead of time and freeze them.  Also, agree with making extra pancakes, I do this as well.  Also, overnight oats are amazing, cinnamon apple being my go to!
  • Personally I wasn't big on the consistency of the refridgerated overnight oats, I would suggest trying one or two before making a weeks worth.

I make muffins or breakfast bars to have on hand, premeasure my oatmeal cinnamon dried fruit and nuts into individual servings and have them ready to add water, heat and eat.

I also enjoy a quick toasted breakfast sandwhich. I use whatever bread, top it with some cheese and lunch meat and pop it into the toaster oven with another slice of bread and when done I slap it I to sandwhich form, wrap with a paper towel and head out the door.

  • Overnight oats are great. Or make a breakfast casserole that will keep for the better part of the week that can be reheated.

  • I made scrambled egg cupcakes last week - hashbrowns on the bottom, eggs and mushrooms and turkey sausage. Super easy to make. I made 12 and Had breakfast to pop in the microwave at work each morning.

Thanks everyone for the ideas!! Definitely gonna try some of these! :)
  • I work super long hours with a long commute. After dinner, the last thing I want to do is cook more. My go to breakfast foods are scrambled eggs, croissants bought from the deli which I'll add egg, microwaveable sausage or cheese to. Other items I do are yogurt, granola bars, cereal, toast...

DH loves the breakfast bowls that you microwave. I can't bring myself to try them. He also does the mini microwave sausage biscuits.
  • One of my favourite breakfasts is plain yogurt with chopped or canned fruit and honey. It takes 2 minutes to put together and it's so good.

I've been stuck on cheese toast lately. Just melt whatever cheese you have on hand on an English muffin or wheat toast in the toaster oven. Add whatever meat/veggies you like before you toast. Tomato, green onion, avocado, shredded kale, ham, even a fried egg, are all delicious.

ETA: I second the overnight oats! You can find a ton of different recipes online.
  • My go to is an apple with peanut butter. Quick and easy.
  • I have a friend who bakes pancakes for a month at a time then freezes them! As soon as I have a kitchen again I will be doing the same! (Building and living in my in-laws basement.)

My daily breakfast is whole wheat toast with peanut butter on it, yogurt or cottage cheese or scrambled eggs, and a serving of fruit (apple, orange, grapes, etc.) My hubby has a smoothie every morning: half of a frozen banana (for sweetness), 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein (you could sub 1 cup of milk or 3/4 cup of plain yogurt), 1/4 cup of uncooked oats (he uses "old fashioned"), a heaping tablespoon of coconut oil or peanut butter, and then adds water to blend. It's great because you get the protein, fruit, healthy fat, and whole grains all at once.
    ETA: to add variations

  • I freeze pancakes, waffles, and French toast that is usually left over from Sunday. My kids love them reheated (I try for healthier options during the week). My DH makes toast and peanut butter every morning as his to-go bfast.

  • Recently I seeded a whole pomegranate (the night before) and ate it like a bowl of cereal with a cup off coffee. Antioxidant overdose gave me unbearable Hershey squirts. I went back to toast and bananas.
  • Super healthy breakfast smoothie that I make:

    1/2c water
    1/2c almond milk
1tbsp Udos Oil (has your omega 3,6,9s)
    1/2 banana
    1/2c any berries
    1 scoop protein powder

Keeps me full most days for the whole morning. (Which for me is from 7:30-noon)
