*UPDATE in OP* Old-fashioned Girl Names - suggestions?

edited December 2014 in Baby Names
Update: forever later, we have finally settled on Eliza Claire for DD2. H was content in the end choosing a MN, so Eliza she will be! I think he chose a great middle - it's not what we had planned, but I love it! Thank you ladies for all your input! --

Hi Baby Names Board! Thanks for letting me bounce some ideas around here, I'm a pretty regular poster on Apr '15. H and I are having a terrible time coming up with a name for DD #2. We both like old-fashioned names, but finding one we both love is proving to be a challenge. I like more feminine names, and he seems to like more "no-frills" names. I have scoured Nameberry, BabyNameWizard, Nymbler, and the Social Security lists from the 1880s-1940s and we're still coming up blank, so I think coming to the board is worth a shot!

For reference/background, DD #1 is Sylvia Joanne, after our grandmothers. DD #2 will most likely have MN Adalyn, after another grandmother (but we will not use this as a first name due to a close relation named Adelaide). We prefer names that are not overly popular, but we would consider something popular that is also timeless (ex. Elizabeth).

My Top Choices:
-Eliza (family name)
-Ophelia
-Helena

H's Top Choices:
-Bernadette
-Winifred
-Mabel (family name)

Ruled out: Josephine, Esther, Ruby, Clara, Cora, Lily, Evelyn, Lucy, Natalie, anything with "belle" in it, anything with "lou" in it

I'm looking for suggestions, or if you like any of the names on our lists, let me hear it! I'm open to persuasion here because H and I are literally getting nowhere! TIA, all.

Oh! I should also add: our last name rhymes with "Reese," so there are beautiful names like Elise and Anneliese that are sadly not options for us.

what about going with Elizabeth and calling her Eliza? The best part about that name is there are endless nicknames if she chooses to stray from Eliza, but Elizabeth always sounds professional too as an adult. (from someone with 31 years experience)
