1. It is 65 degrees today. Yay. On Wednesday, it will be 30 with our first major snowfall of the year, projected to be snow/rain/sleet mix. We already have to battle traffic all the way up the NJ Turnpike the day before Thanksgiving. I don't want to drive in sleet too!
2. After the house robbing, DH and I agreed on getting a security system and putting the lights on timers. Security system never had a chance of getting done before we went away this week, but lights on timers is so basic that we can get it done. I mentioned it to DH last weekend that I needed him to go to Home Depot and get the timers. Then this weekend that he HAD to go get the timers. Then on Sunday night I pick out timers on amazon to show him. I say, if these look good to you, go ahead and finish the order. He orders them to arrive Wednesday, which is after we've left. So he changes it to rush shipping: $30 extra cost. Then he decides he can go to Home Depot on his lunch today and buy them. So he tries to cancel the order. But we can't! Cause it's rush shipping and it's already being prepped for delivery! Grrrr.
Moral of this story: I am ordering the alarm system when we get back. I am not waiting for his input or involving him in the process at all. He can sit in the living room and look pretty.
1) I cannot take any days off before Thanksgiving in the name of "coverage". My team and I got hit with a fire drill this morning at 7 AM (love it when my BB rings at 7 AM on a Monday morning) and needed another part of our group to help (ie do their part of the job). NOT ONE of their 10 person team was in. WTF.
2) More a whine: I have to go pick up my mom for Thanksgiving today. I am just dreading the drive. It's about an hour each way as long as we avoid traffic - which means I am leaving during my work day, logging back in from my mom's then working tonight to balance it all out.
3) DD is dog sitting and cleaning the neighbor's pool while they are away. That is not an issue. She agreed for an extra $30 to rake their leaves. We had an insane storm this weekend. I finally went over there after resolving my fire drill and blew the leaves off the patio for her - they were wet and glued on and she has spent maybe 10 hours on leaves this last week. Oh, and the pool is full of leaves, so she has to lay flat on the ground and reach into the skimmers twice a day - they are really deep and the baskets lack handles and the leaves go all the way to the top. That water is freezing and she can barely reach and it's generating extra laundry for me in the form of wet clothes. Total beating all around.
1. I just found out it takes our housekeeper 5.5 hours to clean our house. Omg. I'm so embarrassed. Granted, she's thorough. Like "cleans and polishes the toaster" thorough. But my God. How gross are we???
2. We had a fantastic weekend. So why are Monday mornings after fantastic weekends so terrible?? DD pooped in her panties. (She's been trained for pees for 3 weeks. Why oh why will she not poop in the potty???) DH went for an extra-long run this morning and was no help. DS pooped, was generally happy, fought getting his clothes on, then spit up so fought getting his clothes changed. I got to work 45 minutes later than normal.
3. My office is a graveyard. I hate when the office is quiet. It freaks me out. I keep waiting for the shit storm to hit.
I kind of set myself up for this one. DS's birthday party is in 2 weeks and I invited my dad's aunt (Dad and his parents have all 3 passed away so she's the only immediate family member left from his family) but it was more of a courtesy invite. She lives 4 hours away so I didn't think she'd come. Well sure enough, she is coming. And she is staying with my great-aunt, who I didn't invite. I didn't invite her because the guest list was getting out of control with DH's family and the close friends we wanted to invite. Plus, this great-aunt hates my mom/blames her for my dad's death. Like I said, I brought this on myself.
My sister and my DH are in the middle of a very heavy disagreement. I have told them both that we are adults and they need to deal and move on. I will not be in the middle of it and do not need the stress but I feel as though they are both trying to drag me into it by even trying to talk to me about it. I have calmly explained to them both that I do not need drama nor extra stress in my life and I am not going to put up with it.
I am in the middle of an argument with a client over what constitutes a sentence. I can't even believe this is how I'm spending my Monday. Right now, I hate my job.
Today was good. Felt like Tuesday since I worked yesterday. My vent is about my son's dad m we are divorced. And he had asked to take DS to a hockey game tonight. We'll about 20 min before he was suppose to get him he canceled.
I don't think it's too late to vent, it's Tuesday morning here, but I will vent and it shall be long otherwise I will explode.
So I picked up this freelance design project which was super fast track (to furnish a villa in a week) mind you I have a 4 months old baby, no nanny, work full time, and a DH who was just promoted to be a manager so he has more work at his FT job but he was able to pick up the slack and mom chipped in too.
So I've been working till 10-11pm daily after work to finish+ full days on weekends. Yes I say weekends because the project kept on dragging because of them, I've been working on it for 3 weeks now which makes it so frustrating, stressing, and unfeasible to me. I'm trying to jump start my freelance business to hopefully give away my FT job all together eventually so I jumped at this project since it was a show villa for a big company and I figured HUGE publicity, portfolio build up, and good cash, and fast track meant I'd be done and it would be out of my hair in no time...WRONG!
I had to start work before getting paid, I still haven't and I've actually spent so much money so far on gas/take out because I'm always out, the project seems to not have a set end date and it keeps dragging, until I'm registered with this corporate business as an official vendor I can't even submit an invoice for my services so there is no contract what so ever.
fast forward to today when the villa is almost done and it looks amazing (I picked out the entire dining set, throws, crystal chandeliers, huge mirrors, furniture, pillows, bedroom full bedding sets, lighting, art, THE WORKS!) but we haven't yet "dressed" the villa with all the pretty stuff and it still hasn't been cleaned, it got really messy from all the workers going in to do all the special lighting works and deliver stuff. The opening of the show villa is this Thursday which is in two days, the person who hired me to do the work from the company was no where to fine during this period and she handed me over to someone else who finalized the payments for the furniture and furnishings and she almost never returned texts and calls when I would need to ask her about something work related.
We had agreed a color scheme, design concept, and showed her pictures of some of the pieces to which she responded with WOW and there were lots of surprises found within the villa and with other suppliers (wallpaper and curtains disappearing on them) and some of those things not delivered, things which I had to over come alone cause she was no where to find or make a decision.
so she goes over to the villa yesterday and decides she doesn't like anything......*end of vent, insert appropriate swear word*
and to top it off my 4 months DD got a bad viral infection, a few notches under CROUP, and I have to drop her off to my mom's house which has been making me spend 1.5 hours on the road in the morning the last two days and get 3-4 hours of sleep at night.
Yeeaay! $#(^&#$(&
