Experience with au pair care?

DH and I have agreed that we will start researching au pair care. The main driver for this is the language exposure. MH is a native German speaker, English is my first language & we want to make sure our LO has significant exposure to the German language/culture. Au pair care is also less costly than daycare where we live. With that being said - has anyone worked with any of the au pair agencies in the US? Can you provide any recommendations on which to use, questions to ask when interviewing, precautions to exercise, etc.
