Teacher dragging student into pool

https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6203690?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000063

I just read this article and watched the video. The part that disturbs me the most was that the other students stood around and watched, after initially trying to help. What do you think?

  • I agree. I also don't see why they pointed out why she didn't want to get her hair wet -- if she didn't want to get in the water, she shouldn't have to. Period. There is no excuse to lay your hands on another person!

  • He should absolutely be charged and lose his job. That is completely unacceptable.

  • I'd cut a bitch. And by bitch I mean that dickwad of "teacher."
  • Wow. I'm shocked. There's is absolutely no reason besides self defense that a teacher should ever put their hands on a student. I'm more angry that they make him seem like a good guy victim. She's only 14, that's when most girls are developing and in this day and age there's creeps everywhere! I showed DH this and he said he would have killed him! I would have done everything to get him fired. Do not touch my child, especially forcefully when there is no need. The school district seems to be trying to cover it up since they paid his leave & just sent him to another school. I'm just fully disgusted.
  • Yeaaaaa that is not okay...what kind of person thinks they have the right to do something like that? I realize this kind of thing isn't the norm, but it really makes me nervous that my kids, Or anyone's kids for that matter, could potentially be in this kind of enviroment some day.

  • This pisses me off so much.  It was completely inappropriate.  I seriously hope he's convicted and is never allowed to teach again.  That's just unacceptable.  He had no right to lay a hand on her.  If that was my kid... well let's just say, I would be the one going to jail.  Ugh.

  • Assault is assault. I would definitely press charges.

A teacher's job is only to set the expectations, and he would be fully within his rights to give her a zero for the class, but the punishment isn't physically being dragged. That's disgusting.

  • @ladyamanuet‌ I agree she should have taken a 0 but if she didn't want to swim for any reason, there is no reason she should have to. She should be able to make the decision to take a 0. That's what I meant -- I've taken a few 0's because I didn't want to participate in certain classes or parts of classes.

  • No words. I would be at that school on a daily basis complaining until he was fired. Disgusting video. And I'm not bothered by the students at all. As much as I will teach my daughter to stand up for herself and for others when being bullied she will also be taught to respect her elders and there was nothing those kids could have done short of punching the guy in the face that would have stopped him and since I wouldn't advocate violence to my child I think they all did the right thing. On the other hand, if I as a parent had witnessed that, yea I would have gotten involved.
  • I don't know, I don't think I'd want my child to allow someone else crying and screaming to be dragged into a pool. The kids could have gotten another teacher if they didn't feel comfortable physically helping the girl up.

It was the fact that they started to help and then stopped (probably because what the teacher said). That's just sad. No one should ever be scared to help

  • I can't watch the video. I always read responses to this stuff before I watch. I get too emotional when I see a child being abused, assaulted ect. ..

Based off responses, I'd agree, he needs to lose his job!
