Nervous habits?

Anybody else's kids have nervous habits that are kind of embarrassing?  Whenever Jane is uncomfortable in a situation, she puts her fingers in her nose and/or mouth and licks her arm.  I don't know what to do - it seems if I mention it to her or try to get her to stop, she does it more.  Her whole face is chapped because of it and her hands and arm are really dry, too.  Any suggestions?

@mrscjmb9410‌, she has a lovey, but since she's not allowed to take it to daycare with her, we've started making her leave it at home. She has some anxiety at daycare, so we want to make sure that she's not dependent on something elsewhere that she can't have at daycare. I wish that wasn't the case, though! She loves her "Ollie!"
