Favorite Things About Having Babies

Being a mom to a baby is one of the toughest jobs around and there is a wide range of what's "normal" when you have a new baby, both desirable and undesirable. (e.g. you might not bond with your baby right away) It's a both/and - both totally grueling and wonderful. What are some of your favorite things about having a baby?

Some of mine:

• I could stare at DD all day, whether she was asleep or awake. She was just so totally adorable. I mean, I could spend an hour just examining those tiny little fingers. Or watching her roll her tongue around her mouth.
• Every developmental milestone is just the greatest thing to ever happen. When she started being able to swat at toys... oh my gosh I wanted to cheer I was so proud of her. And when she first smiled - melt times a thousand. 
• It's like having your own personal real live doll to dress up. So fun.
• Every sneeze is adorable. Every coo, every gurgle. Hell, even baby farts.
• When she only wants her mama, and stops crying only for me. Being that little one's #1 is pretty awesome.
• They way she smells when she just had a bath.
• When I see my expressions in her face, and when I see her dad's expressions. It makes him more endearing to me to see him in her.
• Speaking of dads, there's nothing sexier than hubby being a great dad. 

I could go on and on....

Oh my I love the way they smell! The sweet smell they have after birth from floating in the fluid for 9 months. I also love the baby bath smell! I all do is sniff them for the first few weeks. Lol!

When they hold your finger for the first time.

After birth when I nurse them, then lay them on my chest...best thing ever.

I can't wait to meet my baby!!

When they recognize you!! and then when they smile at you. Those are the best milestones of all!

The smell! Ok that's a given and the way they cuddle. I have to say I get closer to DS as he gets older. When he smiles and wants to hug and kiss his mama. I think how did I live before him???...

I hope more people jump in with more awesome things about having a baby. It's so draining to only hear and focus on the negative! I'm a FTM, so I'm loving the things you ladies have mentioned!

Some of my favorite things is their stinky sweet toes. GAH! I have always loved that with my 3 girls and look forward to Payton's. 

I am also looking forward to being up at night with the late night feedings. I will probably be retracting that statement once they start. But for now I am looking forward to it. 

I love watching every sweet little smirk and smile...whether it be gas or a dream...I don't care. l adore them.

supersarah77...when they only want their momma there is nothing sweeter. My youngest (7 yrs old) is a full blown momma's girl. And it still makes me smiles.

Those first smiles...  that got me through long hours of feeding with DD.

And the first giggles.  Those are go great.

These are all great.  It really helps to focus on what we're doing here, especially on days where we feel really crappy.  I need to be reminded of why I am doing this again.

When they fall asleep on you... sound asleep.  And it's like when a cat falls asleep in your lap and you don't want to disturb them by moving.  Ok, I'll just sit here and hold you another hour.  I also love that sound of them breathing while they are sleeping.
