Working Moms

WM Fail

When I took DD to daycare today I unloaded her bottles and stuff from her back pack (thankfully) but rather than putting her bag in her cubby I put my purse in her cubby and walked out with her backpack - I realized it when I got to work and couldn't find a trace of my purse but her bag was on the seat next to mine.

Total fail. Luckily I have nice co workers who will buy me lunch.

Re: WM Fail

  • I routinely, ROUTINELY leave my wallet in the diaper bag, which stays in the car (my one smart parenting move) so we always have it.  I then end up getting on the train with no money, no ID, no train pass, no credit card, zilch.  And then of course no money for lunch, etc.  I have done this, easily, since having DS, 10 times.

  • Lol! I left my wallet in our swim class bag last week. It was awesome. And this week, I grabbed my backpack and was about to put it in my car when DH pointed out I had the diaper backpack, not my work laptop backpack. Also awesome.

  • You are not alone!  I have executed many variations on this theme as well, inclusive of handing DS my Starbucks and keeping his sippy for me.  I have no idea what the teachers thought that day.

  • Thanks guys! While I know I'm not the only one to have that kind of lapse it feels much better to hear it!

  • You are definitely not alone.  I thought I was so smart sending our can of formula to DC earlier this week because they were running low.   I am currently weaning from BF but I still nurse LO whenever we are together, so with my H away for work this whole week, I figured I would be "so smart"  and send the extra so I don't have to worry about waiting until they run out and risk forgetting it for the next morning.  I was also "so smart" and took all my frozen BM from daycare home last week so I could rotate it out and now that she is on formula if she needed extra food she can have a formula bottle.  I also decided not to nurse her this morning because she was up every 3 hours last night to eat, and it was a bit too soon for her to eat, so I figured she could just get an extra bottle at DC.  Turns out I get to work this morning and they call immediately saying they only have enough for 1 bottle of formula.  Apparently the can I sent barely had anything left and I didn't check.

Sorry for the novel and probably run on sentences and poor grammar (kind of like this sentence).  So tired and so ready for H to come home!
  • I purposely leave purse and work bag locked in car for drop off for this reason exactly!!
  • oh I made it all the way to DC once which is very close to my workplace and found out I had forgotten all the BM bottles at home in the fridge and had nothing for DD at DC to eat!

I ended up in the parking lot of DC nursing DD in the car while my DH left work to go pick up the BM bottles.

  • I left my pump parts at home so many times, and ended up running out to Walgreens to buy more, that I ended up 9 different sets of pump parts.

    NINE SETS OF PUMP PARTS.

I ended up keeping two sets at work.

  • I divided our diapers and wipes between our upstairs changing pad and our downstairs changing pad. For some reason, I thought we were out of diapers and went and bought a crapload more. I discovered that we actually still had a bajillion diapers and then DD had a growth spurt. So I've been forcing her little buns into these diapers for the last 2 weeks and I'm still going to be giving DC about 120 tiny diapers.

Oh, but we were actually out of wipes. Good thing we had the bajillion boxes of Kleenex I had bought and didn't need the week before.
