I personally think that, while they have freedom of speech and can think and say whatever they want, they have to be prepared for backlash. They have a right to freedom of speech, not a right to have a TV show, lol!
I'm getting more a kick out of the comments to the article. Every conservative Christian commenting on there is all "freedom of speech, yo!"...they don't seem to realize that "freedom of speech" =/= "freedom from people thinking you are an asshat", nor does it mean, "freedom to have a TV show to use as a platform of hate".
Yeah, I can't imagine that people are surprised. It's the same as with Duck Dynasty and the CEO of Chik-Fil-A. I certainly don't share their opinions, but come on.
