Cloth Diapering

Overnight Question

I know there have been a few of these posts in the last while, but my migraine isn't helping me find any.

I think M needs something different for overnight. He stopped pooping in the night a while ago. Thus, we recently stopped changing him when he wakes up. We've been using a flat with a hemp doubler. We haven't had any leaks (unless J doesn't put the cover on right) but he is pretty soaked in the morning. The last week or two he wakes up around 3-4 and just won't go back to sleep. I've wondered if he is just too wet, so we change him then and he eventually goes back to sleep. I am on day 3 of a migraine and barely sleeping at all. I'm really hoping adjusting his nighttime diaper might make even a tiny little difference.

There are so many fitted options. I am hoping to maybe find something used to try first to see if it makes a difference or not before spending a ton on them. I've also thought about trying fleece liners. We also have really hard water and had some ammonia before switching to tide and calgon, which makes me slightly worried that we'll have similar issues that other folks have had in getting them clean, so I'm not sure they would be best.

What would you recommend and does anyone have any used fitteds they want to sell? I quickly scanned the swap thread, but didn't see any. I think that about covers it. Cute baby picture to thank you for your advice, in the puffy suit he doesn't wear in his carseat.

Re: Overnight Question

  • I have some LT fitteds I need to part with, but I don't think that will work for you.

Honestly, I'd go with liners and think about adding a second flat or hemp insert. A fitted won't solve the wetness issue.

  • Do you have any pockets that are stay-dry material?  Have you tried some well-stuffed pockets (stuffed with a flat and the hemp doubler if it fits)?

Sorry about the migraine.  I used to get them for days on end too, but somehow having babies has put a (probably temporary) halt to them.  Feel better.

  • A flat and doubler might even fit inside a stay-dry pocket.

  • Thanks guys (er gals) I obviously didn't think that one through duh. So we'll try some fleece liners and see what happens. The only pockets we have are Kawaii's and when we've tried stuffing them more we get gaps around his legs. We could play around with it though and see if we can make it work.

TJ, mine stopped during pregnancy, but I've started getting them again if I am overly stressed and sleep deprived. I've considered becoming a professional surrogate to keep them away ;)

Remind me what type of fleece I should get?
