Injectible IUI cycle ?

Hi ladies...

For you ladies who had already completed an Injectible IUI cycle, how were your side effects starting on 75IU? I'm expecting bloating. I want to prepare myself and DH

Injects are going to fall before/after Thanksgiving.  He may up my meds depending on how I respond. RE mentioned the injects will be between 7-10 days.

I started at 150iu and didn't have many side effects. There was definitely some fullness and tenderness when Oing and right after, but that was due to multiple follicles, not necessarily the medication

Glad you asked this question, I was wondering the same thing!

Our RE said that women who had SEs on Femara tend not to have them on injects. Hopefully that's true.

I hope it's okay to post (mobile so can't see siggies). For my Follistim-only IUI, I had fewer symptoms than Femara & Follistim hybrid cycles, with much better results. I only noticed some ovarian soreness around O, and my lining was significantly thicker, I had 7 follicles in the running at one point that went to 2-3 mature at ovulation (compared to 1-2 even in contention with Femara & Follistim hybrid cycles), and of course (and most importantly) it was a successful cycle.

If I ever have to do this all again, I am jumping right to Follistim IUI. It's definitely what worked best for us! I hope it works for you, too!!!!!

Thanks for asking about this @deelopi9!  I'm starting injects in January assuming this IUI is unsuccessful!  Met with RE yesterday to go over everything, and he did mention that most people have very few side effects when compared to clomid cycles (besides a little bloating).

@southernyankeegirl - absolutely, thank you so much for your feedback. With clomid I had more side effects than on femara. Glad it worked for you

@Bunnyberry I hope so, the mood swings were getting pretty bad. I'll make sure to post any SE on the IUI check-ins

I started low with 50iu and don't remember having any issues.

The next cycle I started on 50iu and was bumped up to 75iu. That time I felt some tenderness and just an overall feeling like my ovaries were heavy. 

The next cycle I started on 75iu right off the bat I didn't experience any problems.

I started at 112.5iu and the first three nights I took it I was super sleepy afterwards. After that fourth dose I was fine and didn't have any side effects.
This round I started with 150iu and no side effects. Good luck!

@buttmonkey34 Same here, coming from someone who never has any PMS or mood swings, clomid was a nightmare.

I have had no side effects from Gonal-F.  Each cycle I started at 150 per day and was bumped up to 300 per day with no effects whatsoever.  I had so many side effects from Clomid (did one natural cycle) including sweats, abdominal pain and very large cyst formation.  I would definitely recommend foregoing the Clomid if you can.

I was on the maximum dose, 300iu, of Gonal-F for my first medicated cycle. I took it for 8 days and the only side effect I had was a headache. I looked it up and it is a very common side effect of this medication. I also felt some ovary fullness and pain around CD 10-12 right before I did my trigger shot. I have heard that Clomid has many, many side effects. I am happy that my RE didn't think it would do anything for me so I will not have to take it.

On 75iu I barely had any side-effects. I think, at most, I had a couple of headaches. It was significantly easier than a Clomid cycle in terms of how I felt.
