Trouble TTC

Elevated FSH level

My husband and I are currently trying for baby #1. 8 years ago I tried to donate my eggs, but was told my FSH level was too high and I may need help when I was ready to start a family. Has anyone on here had a successful pregnancy, or know someone that has had one, with an elevated FSH level? It's only been a few months, but it's hard not to stress knowing what I do from those test results.

Re: Elevated FSH level

  • That's an interesting situation. Although you're not at the 1 year mark (or 6 months if 3+), I personally would not want to wait without  knowing my FSH level. 8 years is along time and if it was my own fertility at stake, I would not want to take the risk of waiting when another 6 months or something could make a difference in ovarian reserve. Perhaps contact the original doctor who tested your FSH and ask if they would recommend follow-up testing right away? Or, it would make sense to ask your GYN to test FSH on CD3 and then if it indicates a crucial situation, get that RE referral sooner rather than later.

  • I set up an appt at a clinic for January. I was told to try for 6 months and then go in. January will be 5 months and I would rather get more bad news, if that's how it turns out, after the holidays. I am pretty much a mess now as it is, so at least this way I can try to relax a little until my appt the beginning of the year. If it's meant to be, there will be a way. Have to try to keep thinking that way!
