Hey ladies I am a FTM And I am currently 39 weeks and 4 days. Last Wednesday (at 38&5) Dr told me that I was 2cm dilated and 60-70% effaced. He seemed surprised that I wasn't complaining of painful contractions, but I still haven't felt anything that I would call severe. I also lost my mucus plug Friday night (at 39&0) and had 7 contractions in one hour on Monday (at 39&3) but when I called the hospital to ask if I should come in they said not unless I am unable to walk or talk though the contraction and I haven't felt anything like that yet. Its just that sometimes I feel like labor is right around the corner, and other times I feel like it's no where in sight! Anyone have any thoughts or stories about their birth experience?

Lucky you, sounds like you aren't having pain. If I had to do it over, I'd have waited for more pain before I went to the hospital . It is not fun to be in the hospital hooked up to monitors.

I'm the same way right now! I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow, and my OB told me Monday at 38W4D that I was 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced and to expect to go some time this week. I still haven't lost my plus (or at least I'm oblivious if I did). I've been having contractions which really just feel like pressure than pain, hip pain and some pain in my lower belly but nothing I would call "extreme". But both my mother and sister didn't know they were in labor with any of their babies because they had similar early labor symptoms. I'm just hoping that it's soon!!!!

I was 2cm dilated and past 50% effaced during weeks 36-39. As PP said, it doesn't mean anything. I never saw my MP and it didn't feel like labor was imminent, but I did go into labor at 39w2d. I woke up having contractions but they weren't 5 minutes or less apart so I was told to stay home. I went in anyway because I started throwing up and it's a good thing I did because my water broke less than 30 minutes after getting there. I went from 5cm to 10cm dilated in less than an hour.
