AW again/Not PAIFR related- Kitty cat is dying :(

We've known for a while that our 13 year old male tabby is sick, as he started rapidly losing body weight a few months back. He's usually a 13 pound cat, but now down to 9 lbs. The vet couldn't find anything wrong at prior visits, but today finally diagnosed intestinal lymphoma, which has spread to his kidneys. Nothing to be done, and he's probably not long for the world. I've had him since he was a kitten. He's lived in three states, seen God knows how many boyfriends come and go, and has traveled cross country twice.

I'll add a pic later, when I'm at home. Right now I'm a hormonal pregnant woman who has to go teach a class but can't stop crying.

I am so, so sorry for you.  I'm a very big cat lover, and I know how special a cat can be.  We lost a cat to intestinal cancer a little over 10 years ago.  Once he was diagnosed, his decline was rather swift.

I'm sorry. I have 3 cats myself & I'm a huge cat lover. My oldest got me through my 1st miscarriage & the bond we have is incredible. It's so hard to say goodbye. (((hugs)))

I'm so sorry..... We had to put our pup to sleep this past summer.  I had him when I met DH.....he was 13 years old.  It was the hardest think I had to do.  Our cat, who is 5, walked around for days looking for him.  Cherish the time you have left with him.  Sending you big hugs.

Thanks ladies. It's very sad, but I know he had a pretty good life. Here's a pic of him by the wood stove with us tonight. His name is Guido, by the way.

I'm so sorry. It's the worst. I had to put my almost 20 yr old boy down 2 yrs ago for end stage Renal failure and it broke my heart. He was my baby.

I'm so, so sorry! I had to put my cat to sleep rather suddenly two years ago on New Years eve. It's terrible to lose a fur baby. I agree, you'll know when the time is right. Have lots of snuggles in the meantime. Your kitty knows how much you love him!

The only downside to keeping pets is knowing that we are going to outlive them and have to watch them pass I'm so sorry for your loss.  I hope you're able to make your last days with your kitty happy ones and give him some extra snuggles.

@CandaceC1020 - I'm so sorry about your keekee. ((hugs)) It's so hard.

@BeckyP005 - We took Guido for a second opinion, in part because our now-former vet wasn't telling us diddly squat about palliative care. The second vet did a bit more diagnostic testing and everything came back very grim. Same diagnosis, just much farther along than the first vet thought. She actually offered euthanasia that same day, although she said he could continue to get some more enjoyment from life for a few more weeks. She gave him some meds and he's been extremely cuddly and happy with his all-tuna-fish diet. :x

Just want to say I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. We have two cats and it breaks my heart to think of one or both not being here, I can't imagine how you feel right now. Enjoy every moment you have left with your precious furry friend.
