Tree or no tree

We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year.  We typically go oot.  We are having dinner on Friday which is normally when I put up my tree.  Should I go ahead and have it up when we have dinner or is it too soon?  What does S12 think about this?

Re: Tree or no tree

  • I don't mix holidays, so I would not put up the tree. We put our winter decor up the weekend after thanksgiving and the tree on December 1st.

  • I would do the tree post-Thanksgiving.

  • I put my tree up this past weekend so I'm not a huge help but I'd say put it up. There are only so many days you can enjoy the twinkling lights and for some reason this year people are more excited to start early. I don't see the need to hold off.

  • Thanks! I'm typically a NO Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving person.  For some reason this year I want to start early.  I'm really excited for Christmas this year seeing DS get so excited over things.

Respect the turkey. No trees before Thanksgiving.

Ok, just re-read the OP. I would still hold off one more day since that will be your Thanksgiving, but that's me!

  • Since you are hosting, I would wait and keep your house in fall/turkey/pumpkin decor for Thanksgiving Dinner.

  • I'd skip the tree until after Thanksgiving is over--even if your Thanksgiving is the day after, well, Thanksgiving.  Ride out the pumpkins and fall leaves a little longer.

  • No tree! Poor Thanksgiving, no one cares about you.
