NT scan

Today, we had our 12 week NT scan. Measured almost double what it was suppose to they drew blood work for downs and other possible genetic problems. And referred me to a specialist for high risk pregnancy. I'm a nervous wreck & won't know anything for 15 days. Has anyone dealt with this... I know worrying does nothing but how do you not? Also, baby's heart rate is high at 190... It should be lower at this point. Doctor was so casual about everything & said it might be nothing but I've been in tears since.

Thanks everyone. I'm am blessed with a loving boyfriend who told me that nothing that a doctor or diagnosis can break our spirits. We are choosing to see this as just what it is. At the moment it is neither good nor bad... You know kind of like what Hamlet said. It is nice and comforting to feel your prayer vibe. Thanks so much.

@soniaren i'm so sorry you're going through this. I just decided today that although my doctor says she is "very worried" and we know something isn't quite right, I am not going to let myself fall apart until we are told for sure what is wrong. Making that decision, and baking double chocolate chip muffins, helped me today.

I have dealt with this same situation just this summer.  Our situation did not turn out well, but that does not mean you will have the same experience.  There are many women who have had large NT measurements and went on to deliver perfectly normal/healthy babies!  The NT measurement is just an indicator that additional testing needs to be done.  I'm sorry you are in this waiting game.  My thoughts and prayers are with you!  Keep yourself busy during this wait - and AVOID Dr. Google. Positive thoughts and vibes coming your way!

Prayers for you! Keep hope! I know of people who have had high measurements before too and have had healthy babies. You never know!

I have been in your exact position. I'm very sorry you have to go through this. Did you make an appointment for an ultra sound with the specialist? Thoughts and prayers your way.

I had that same issue with my daughter my Dr sent me to a specialist I had to wait about 3 weeks for an appointment and thank God everything turn out fine. I delivered a perfect healthy baby. Try not to worry and stay positive!

@Erica2339‌ Thanks!!! I really am doing better today. That day in the office was so overwhelming. I have a great support system & got home yesterday to find my SO had set up a crib. I can't help the waves of worry that hit me but I also refuse to let that take over. I'm so happy to hear your positive experience.
