So I'm wondering, how are all of you ladies getting this testing done? I asked about it and my doctor has been out and the nurse said she didn't have any reason to order it so I couldn't get it. I really wanted it and was willing to pay out of pocket but she said she couldn't order it. Was she full of crap?

I don't know about going around the doctor... I will be 34 when I deliver and have had two miscarriages, the last being a genetic issue. So I am a prime candidate.
You can contact the Verifi/MaterniT/ etc companies and ask... but you will need a doctor to read your results. If your doc doesn't think it is the right fit for you, than consider that.
It's only been proven to be 99% correct in women over 35. If you are younger and lower risk, it may not actually be helpful and give you false positives.
My doctor has been out on maternity leave so I haven't been able to talk to her about it. Also I'm 34 and will be three weeks shy of 35 when baby is due so I would think it would work for me. I've also had a previous miscarriage, but I know just one isn't enough to classify you as high risk. Now that I have been dx with GD I get to go to the high risk doc and will be getting at least the Ultra Sound, but I want to know if that nurse is full of it because I plan to tell my doctor everything she has said and done that I'm not happy with the second I get a chance. My mother in law is a rep for the Materniti21 test and she previously told me I could get it if I wanted I would just have to pay out of pocket if I didn't have a risk factor. Anyway, I just want to know how other doctors have worked.

When my doctor discussed it with me at my 6 week appointment she had said its their recommendation to do it based on my history. I am not sure what would qualify every time for this test but i had 3 miscarriages 1 living child but they could never figure out why i kept miscarrying. I am seen every two weeks till i deliver and an ultrasound every other appointment. I do know if there is a history of down syndrome and other chromosome abnormalities in the family that flags it as well. She said its a bonus to see if there is a Y chromosome or just X Chromosomes to tell whether male or female since insurance will not cover it just to know what you are having. It would be a good idea to maybe discuss with your doctor due to your age that you would feel comfortable getting the test done to make sure ahead of time if there is any risk. Again not sure what they might say but it doesnt hurt to know the results sooner. I wish you luck though.
Did y'all ask for the test or was it offered to you?
You cant ask for the test unless you want to pay for it. You have to have the doctor recommend it and put a request in for it to be done. I was told its very expensive but i could be wrong.

i was offered it at my first appointment. i was told it is offered to every woman and asked to sign a consent for for/against it. i wasn't going to do it at all until my doctor recommended it when they saw something troubling with the brain on my last ultrasound.
So the genetic testing tells the gender? My doctor didn't mention that to me. I'm having my blood drawn tomorrow. So about how long before we know something?
My dr made it sound like a normal thing ... I'm not high risk either. My guess it's regional or doctor-specific as to if they push it. She claimed it was covered and now I'm a little nervous it might not be!
My doctor told me at my 8 week appointment about all of the different testing and options. I could opt in or out. I'm not high risk at all and very fortunate, but chose to go with the testing anyway. I'm a nervous nancy so it is such a peace of mind. My insurance covered it 100%.
I heard that it can be different based on your location... at least for NT. I live in VA and my doc just mater-of-factly told me to give my EDD, make the apt., where to go, etc.
I have no risk factors... (26yrs, no history of miscarriage)
I still haven't heard back about my Panorama. I took the test on 11/12 and I am starting to get antsy. I remember last time with the Mat21 I got the results back in a week. Should I call?
Just had mine this morning. Neck fluid amounts were normal and we had a good nasal bone (who knew the nose thing was a Downs indicator?). Waiting on bloodwork now but very optimistic. So fun to see cricket bouncing around in there!
I FINALLY got the verify test done today. Have to wait till next Friday for results cant wait to announce to you ladies what kind of spartan baby i am growing. Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Holidays!!!!

I would call i am one if you tell me a range of time to hear results well at 12:01 am i want to know that day. Doesnt help when your pregnant though.
For those who were asking about how much the blood test costs, I've done some research so hopefully this will help some of you... My insurance company covers it at 100% if you are high risk/meet their criteria and at 80% if you are not high risk (in our case, they'd cover it at 80% once we meet our deductible).
I am not high risk but electing to have it done anyway (and have not met my deductible) but happen to have a family friend who works at Natura, so we're paying a discounted "family" rate of $195. However, from what I have read online, if your insurance does not pay for it, you may get an outrageous bill from the lab (ie, anywhere from $800-$3k) but that you can negotiate the price with them and most people wind up paying a couple hundred bucks. The maternity nurse & heathcare assistant that I work with through Accolade (a healthcare/insurance advocate program that is part of my husband's healthcare benefits) both confirmed that based on their experience with other clients, it should only be a couple hundred bucks out of pocket if insurance does not cover it.
On another note - if any of you have a program like Accolade offered as part of your benefits and you are not using it, sign up immediately!!
We did the Harmony blood work on the 12th and just got word today: all clear, and it's a girl! I only had a list of boys names, so I guess it's back to the drawing board!
Im sooooooo antsy!!!.. I did my testing on the 11/14 and I havent heard back yet!!!!..... I'm not worried in anyway about the genetic testing since I will love the baby either way, but Im dying to know what I'm having!!! I'm really hoping to have the results back in time for thanksgiving since our families will be together!!!!
We decided to not do ours. We are very low risk for anything and either way will love the baby the same. It doesn't change anything so why do it and then have the stress about it. Just my opinion.
Did the blood test determine the sex of the baby? I had heard this was possible. Going to double check with my dr when I see him in 2 weeks. Supposed to have bloodwork taken same day so if it's possible I want to find out so he can add it to the list of tests in case it's not on there yet lol
Find it very interesting what they can do with technology these days!!
