Is LO a biter?

Is anyone else dealing with a biter?  Since LO now how 2 sets of teeth, he delights in biting my shoulder- hard! Most recently leaving red marks where he had broken capillaries beneath my skin.  Obviously he is not doing it to hurt me.  He seems to love it.  First I ignored and redirected.  Then I tried sternly saying, "NO- That hurts Mommy" pausing a few seconds and then redirecting.  He laughs and does it again.  I know you can't punish a baby (not only would it be cruel, but it doesn't work), but  when can they start to understand "Don't do that."  ?  

Anyone dealt with this?  Suggestions?

Yep! And he only has two teeth! Following for suggestions!

Yes! LO only bites me!  Thankfully he does not bite when he is nursing! He fakes me out when he goes to snuggle his face into my arm, leg, shoulder, whatever and then chomp down.

 I always yelp, "OUCH no biting" when he does it. Last week he drew blood.

Yep - I warn people that Em's a biter and she's not fussy who she chomps! Mostly it's fingers, but recently she's taken a liking to kneecaps
I say "No" is a stern voice and tap her nose with my finger, usually she gives me an I'm sorry suck, then bites me again

Ds2 has bitten me once...I pull him off and gave him a very firm NO. I pray that it doesn't happen again.

It's nice to hear I'm not alone.

I can't imagine how much it would hurt if I was BFing!  OUCH!

@Dexter&11 : at least she is momentarily sorry.  My vampire is instantly plotting to do it again.

A does this too! Like PP, a firm no and redirect is all I've come up with so far.

LO is only a nipple biter, so far anyway.  The boy I babysit bites his mom's shoulder too! I think his is related to teething. 

Sorry you're dealing with this.  Biting is a tough thing to deal with because there's really not much you can do.  Definitely say "No, ouch!" or something to that regards.

LO has bitten me a handful of times. I always say no, that hurts mommy and set her down (gently) right away. She usually cries to be picked back up. I'm hoping this teaches her biting gets poor results and discourage her from doing it. My nephew was an awful biter for months. It's hard because there isn't a lot you can do.

@Katybriggs : perhaps they can team up.  R can bite people and A can laugh about it. 

Thanks T-lex.  I had thought about removing myself but then worried if I did this when he did something wrong, would he think every time I left the room he had done something wrong?  Over thinking I'm sure.
