I kept meaning to post this, but typing takes forever since I always have at least one baby trying to snuggle with me while I'm sitting on the couch these days.

I woke up last Monday (11/10, my due date) without having had any signs of labor other than a few random contractions on Sunday (nothing timeable), so I sent DH to work and got the kids ready for school. After I dropped the girls at preschool, I went to my doctor's appointment, where we discussed what our options would be moving forward, and then on my way home, I started having more frequent contractions, so I called my husband and asked him to come home. Then I called my mom and asked her to come down (a 2.5 hour drive) so she could watch the kids while DH and I were at the hospital.
After my husband picked the girls up from school at 12:30, I asked him to drive me to the hospital since my contractions were about 7 minutes apart. We got there around 1:15, and I went to triage (where kids aren't allowed), and he took the girls home to wait for my mom. I was still only 3 cm (same as at my appointment earlier), so they told me to walk around for an hour and then they're recheck. I made it about 45 minutes before going back because I was in so much pain, and at that point, I was 4-5 cm, so they told me they were admitting me (this was around 3:50 pm). The triage nurse wheeled me to my room, and she and another nurse tried to fix some problem with the computer system that wouldn't allow them to officially admit me into that room while I was told to move from the stretcher to the bed. As soon as I was in the bed, I had a strong contraction and my water broke. Then I had a really strong urge to push and I yelled that I needed to push and she was coming; the triage nurse looked between my legs, kind of pushed them back together, then pulled the emergency cord. Two more nurses came running in, positioned themselves at the end of the bed and told me I could push. Two or three pushes later, and my baby girl was out at 4:15 pm (so roughly three hours after arriving at the hospital and less than five hours from when my contractions started becoming regular). The doctor got there right after I delivered her and was able to deliver the placenta and stitch me up (luckily, I only needed two stitches). I never had the opportunity for my epidural (which I even asked about as soon as I got to my room) or antibiotics (which I was a little freaked out by since I was GBS+ but luckily there have been no issues from that), but the worst part was that my husband didn't get there in time; he was on his way (and we only live five minutes from the hospital) when I called to tell him that he had a new daughter, but he didn't get there until about ten minutes after her birth. We've talked about having at least one more baby, and now I'm kind of afraid that I'll end up giving birth on the side of the road or having an accidental, unattended home birth because of how quickly things progressed.
Julie is by far the smallest of all my kids at 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches (the other three were 10lbs 1oz, 9lbs 3oz, and 8lbs 12oz), which I find pretty funny since I read somewhere that subsequent babies are generally bigger, but mine have all gone the opposite direction.
And here are some pictures of Julie in the hospital with me, DH, and her big brother and sister (DD2 wasn't very cooperative of pictures since she just wanted to snuggle with Mommy but I included one of her from a few days later).
