3rd Trimester

Extremely sore muscles/joints

Last Wednesday night I noticed my forearm was really sore but chalked it up to sleeping on it wrong or just having a weird muscle thing going on.  Thursday I woke up and my whole body hurt.  Like I had just worked out big time the day before and I was super sore.  It was my hands, arms, legs, neck, shoulders and stomach muscles.  I took some Tylenol and thought it would go away.  Well it hasn't at all.  I called my midwife on Friday and she told me to take Magnesium and call the chiropractor.  When I am not taking Tylenol it's the exact same...just beyond sore.  Baby is moving fine so not worried about her at all.  Anyone experienced this?  I have to have weekly BPPs, NSTs and MW appointments so I haven't been able to schedule with Chiro yet because I am already missing so much work.  I see my midwife tomorrow so would you have them draw labs to see if anything is off?

If it was just my stomach, back and legs I would understand but the fact that my hands and arms hurt are causing me to wonder what the heck is going.  TIA!

Re: Extremely sore muscles/joints

  • That's been happening to me lately too! My midwife says it's pretty common because the hormones that are supposed to help your pelvis relax, can make the rest of your joints relaxed/prone to movement and injury too. This results in muscles that you wouldn't expect to be sore to hurt like you had a hard workout. Maybe that's what's going on with you too? The MW said that there isn't much we can do besides take Tylenol, warm bath, chiropractor, etc and to just wait it out. Good luck!

  • Okay! That makes me feel better since your MW said it's common too.  Sorry you are in the same boat...hoping it goes away soon.

    Thanks!
