Trouble TTC

Cramping After Trigger Shot??

Ok so I'm 6 days post trigger shot. I know that many women experience cramping around the time of ovulation, but I've likely never ovulated before so I have no idea what "normal" cramping could be. This is not a "Could this have worked?" post, but more of a "Should I call my doctor?" post.

I took my trigger shot at night and went to bed shortly after. I've had light cramping in the area of both ovaries since the morning after trigger (I had one mature follicle on one side, one borderline mature follicle on the other) so I thought this was normal ovulation cramping. Today the cramping is worse. I know I sound like a complete newbie, but should I be concerned that I'm still cramping?

Re: Cramping After Trigger Shot??

  • Girl, you and I are such twins this cycle. I have been having period-like cramps yesterday and today (5 and 6dpiui) and I was wondering if it was normal as well. It isn't the same crazy ovulation pains I felt the day after trigger, but more like an overall cramping. Hopefully it's normal (and not a bad sign!) for both of us. I'm curious to hear what others have to say who have gone through trigger/IUI cycles before, thanks for posting this!

  • @BandM14 - We are true cycle buddies right now! That is EXACTLY what it feels like. It feels like PMS cramps but more localized to the ovary area. UGH!

@BlueJoan - Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It is definitely more noticeable. Blah!

  • @BunnyBerry and @BlueFairy5 - Thanks! I guess I was excited to feel something at first because that would mean that something about my cycle has changed thanks to the meds, but I expected it to go away. The unexpected always seems to make me freak out for a bit.

  • I got cramps 2 days after trigger and then they stopped for few days. Whole 7 days before my period started I had cramps every single day and the day AF showed they stopped so I am guessing for what I am reading they could be normal. This was my second month with the trigger, the first month I only had cramps the day I ovulated with was 3 days post trigger. I will recommend you to talk about it with your doctor anyway, I am having my visit next week and I am planning on talking with him about this just to feel on the safe side. I'll let you know if he tells me is normal  :)
