I probably shouldn't post this but I'm so worried about it and I can't talk to her ped until tomorrow morning.

Emmy's cord stump fell off tonight and it looks disgusting with yellow pus inside it. I've attached a picture. Is this normal or do you think it's infected? Can I clean it with alcohol or no?

I have an inside baby, so I know nothing at all, but I was actually just researching the umbilical cord. Half the sites said pus was normal, the other half said it could be infected. The difference seemed to be a fever. Have you taken her temperature?

I have. She doesn't have a fever. It just looks so bad!!

This blog is from an ER nurse/doctor and has some useful information. Hoping it's just the first scenario of normal healing that looks bad.
