The kick count made me crazy paranoid so I had to stop consciously taking the hour to count and just get an idea of what was normal for a day and if I felt anything different I would have called my OB.
In the UK we are advised to contact our midwives if we notice anything different from baby's normal routine. 10 movements doesn't really work as some very active babies may move a lot more so 10 movements per day/hour wouldn't necessarily indicate if there was any problem. Hope that helps xxx
Yeah I would just keep a mental note of how the baby moves throughout the day. If you don't feel them move for a long time or get worried, drink some OJ and lay on your side. I never did them, just made sure I felt them move periodically throughout the day.
I was given a chart to count kicks. It's a bit confusing to me but when I mentioned he tends to be more active at night my midwife said good! Just pay attention and call us if he moves less than normal.
I'm pretty sure the count is just so you get an idea of your baby's routine. There are guidelines, but so long as you know your baby and are paying attention to if things change you're fine (if you don't pay enough attention to know what's normal you won't know when things aren't!)
(But the kick count was supposed to be 10 in 2 hours for mine)

Same advice from my midwife here in the U.S. Third pregnancy and I've never done kick counts.
