The name Caspian

Ok this is my first post on this board but I have lurked a lot and seen the great and honest advice given here. I need some advice hope y'all will help!
I have seen the name Caspian offered as a suggestion before and it has seriously grown on me. I loved the chronicles of Narnia when I read them growing up and I loved prince Caspian. I never thought about using it IRL though because I thought it seemed too out there but I'm really loving it more and more. Our last name is King so my question is, does that sound too weird being Caspian MN King? I guess the alliteration type sound of it. Also if you think it sounds ok and have any mn suggestions I'm open to them! Thanks in advance!
ETA: this is for a boys name in case that wasn't obvious somehow :D

Re: The name Caspian

  • Not a fan, especially with your last name. I'd suggest middle-naming it.

I'm OK with the alliteration, but the Prince Caspian thing is a little too "on the nose" for me. Middle-name it?
Yes that's kinda what I was wondering too if it was too fictional sounding with our last name being King. I actually like the idea of middle naming it. Baby naming is so hard!

Haha right! Maybe it's just a GP thing for me. Plus my husband and I both did sports and are pretty athletic and not that I'm going to force my child into anything or expect athleticism from them BUT how cool of name to have for sports if he does play! lol I just don't want it to be cheesy I guess or get side eyed bc like pp said it's too "on the nose" which I get and that's why I am glad to hear different opinions!

  • I looooove Caspian! I don't mind the alliteration in this case. The King Caspian thing bothers me a little bit more (did Prince Caspian in Narnia ever become King? It's been over a decade since I read those). Regardless, I think you should still use is. Caspian is hella cool.

Yes he does actually! He becomes King Caspian X. I feel this name could grow with him. A cute baby Caspian, a fun teenager Caspian, a young man, and then Dr. Caspian King or professor Caspian King if he so pleases. Right? Not too crazy..

I LOVE Caspian, and if your ln weren't literally a royal title I would say go for it. As it is, nooooooo.
Do you have suggestions for something along the same lines? I would appreciate it!

  • I love Caspian but I think it just sounds a little too narnia with the LN.

    Maybe:
    Lennon
    Phineas
    Everett
    Lucien
  • I love Caspian and also dont mind it with your last name. I think there could be worse with your name... Harry king.. Owen king....
