Fetal movement

Hi ladies, I'm 16+ 4 with di/di twins. So far no issues, no major symptoms just extreme fatigue. At around 13.5-14wks I started to feel very obvious fetal movement, lots of butterflies, turning, twisting going on in there. For the last week I haven't felt almost any movement. Maybe the occasional "I think it's then but I'm not sure". Nothing definitive like before. I'm an ER nurse and have access to U/S so on Wednesday we checked them out and we saw strong heartbeats, hiccuping, but less moving around. They also looked much bigger than a couple weeks earlier when we ultrasounded them. Is this normal to not feel movement for this long? Are they just getting too big to feel the butterflies but not quite big enough to feel an actual punch or kick?? Just nervous that there's an issue, feeling "Unpregnant", but don't want to panic bc I know it's early for movement to begin with.

Re: Fetal movement

  • Not that I'm all that experienced since I'm 28 weeks, but I didn't feel anything consistent until maybe around 20 weeks or so.  My babies change position constantly and I thought for a few days that I wasn't feeling Baby B, but apparently he took a trip across my belly to the other side, so I was feeling A and B BOTH on the right, but nothing on the left.  They are all different, and I wouldn't be worried at this point.

    Good luck!

  • I felt a bit of a feeling like popcorn popping in there early on but didn't feel much kicking until about 24 weeks, even then I didn't feel them much at all my whole pregnancy. I used to get very worried too but everything turned out fine. I could feel them the most if I lay Down still on the couch and put my hands on my stomach maybe try that but I think no need to worry

Thanks ladies. I actually have felt them a but te last couple days. Just some slow rolling type feeling. No actual kicks from the outside yet though. I know it's a bit early for that. I wish there was a window to look inside and see what they are doing every day!
  • I never felt a ton of movement with mine. I was told that they were just really squished in there.
  • I don't think I felt any movement that early but these are my first so I also don't think I knew what I was looking for.  I do notice some days they're more active than others so I try not to freak out anymore (try, don't succeed, but try).  Also the teacher at my birthing class told us if we hadn't felt movement for a while and were worried to drink something very cold and sugary with a little caffeine, don't know if it'd work at 16 weeks but mine get kick-happy with just ice water at 29 weeks.
