Mastitis

Ladies who have had mastitis, how did it start? Did everything hit you at once (red, tender breast, fever, chills, etc.) or was it a slower progression?

I woke this morning to tender underboob on my right breast. The skin appears to be pinkish, but certainly not red (nor do I have red streaks). I also am not feeling feverish. Is it possible this is the start of mastitis or maybe something else??

TIA!!

Edited to add forgotten info.

  • I started with 10pm at night feeling sore on one side of my breast like a plugged duct might feel, but I couldn't feel anything hard. I actually woke up my baby to have him nurse because I thought it would help but it really didn't.
The next morning I had a little lethargic but not horrible, had chills and still had the pain. I decided if it wasn't better after he nursed for morning feed I would call the dr. Had an appt at 1pm, low grade fever, started meds asap. Felt chilled that night and was good to go by the next day.

  • @mattanda2011‌ did u have a fever or just chills. I've felt freezing all day but no fever.

Also, stupid question, but do I call my OB or my primary?
  • I never got a fever, but had the chills - the kind where they are a little achey. I went with my GP
