Stupid Questions Sunday

Re: Stupid Questions Sunday

  • I have a strange question... when you get big and the baby is at the stage where you really see it moving from outside, did anyone have pets react to that? Like a cat pawing at thr baby or a dog sniffing your belly like crazy?

I'm kinda curious bc i have 3 cats and one is like my shadow... kinda looking forward to seeing how he reacts.

  • That question wasn't stupid enough. I think we can do better.... I I was told that if your hair gets greasier while you're pregnant, your baby will be born with blue eyes. Is that true?
Yes, my hair is driving me nuts and I can pretty much guarantee this kid will have blue eyes.  :P

On another note, they do have special bottles for breastfeed babies--I bought a ton of different styles for my first (including a yoomi before they were available in the US...which I proceeded to "sterilize" until I turned into a plastic puddle *sigh*).  He would use none of them.  Ultimately, he used Playtex drop-ins, because that is what our daycare person preferred.
The bigger thing is probably to start off with newborn/slow/preemie nipples.

Question for 2nd time moms- do you plan to buy new nipples for your bottles?   Just wasn't sure if it was necessary.  Or if it was okay to simply boil them before your next child arrives.
I plan to get new nipples: it's been almost 3 years since most of mine were bought and given the weather where we live, rubber/plastic tends to wear out and disintegrate pretty quickly. They generally aren't that expensive to replace, so, for us, might as well.

No cats, but my MIL's dog Jax would want to cuddle her head next to my belly when my kids moved. She passed away this summer... She was like a big furry guardian angel to my kids!
Now Roxy (my pooch... She's half Dobie and half Border Collie) thinks she's a service dog or something because every time I have a contraction (Braxton hicks) she comes up to me before they start and forces her head under my hand (she does that when I don't feel good too). She loves our other kids, but I think since this little girl is younger than her she will probably become more attached

  • I bought a cheap mattress from BRU that was the right size for the crib.  I'm using it again for this LO.

I used the Medela bottles because they fit on the pump that I had and I didn't have to screw around with extra parts.  DD took them fine, so I didn't get anything fancy.  We used slow flow nipples.

I do recommend not buying a bunch of bottles of one type before baby comes.  Some babies will only take certain ones.  Some don't care.  At least keep receipts and don't wash them all at once!

That's a good point. I feel kinda silly but I hadn't even thought about the pump. My insurance covers a Medela pump but I ordered Avent bottles. I guess I will have to see if they work with the pump and if not return the unused ones.

  • @lovemymuttzillas‌ my dogs do the exact same thing with me and I keep telling my hubby that is going to be funny when we can feel the kicks from the outside and the dogs get kicked while laying on me

New to know that there are no holes, cracks and everything is fine.
