Hi everyone! I'm currently 22 weeks (just on the cusp of 23) with my second child and I've been wondering about this for a while. I'm a performer (specializing in backbends) and have so far had no trouble continuing performing throughout this pregnancy. I don't really know any other performers in this field that I can immediately reach out to to ask how far along they continued to perform/do any excessive stretches into their pregnancies, so I was curious to know if anyone on here has any personal experience with it or know of any resources I could use to look it up.
When I spoke to my doctor about it she sort laughed it off and said whatever I could do before pregnancy (as long as I was well-practiced) I could do during pregnancy but I'm not entirely sure she understood what I meant. It's definitely become a bit of a crowd pleaser (and shocker) to see a woman in her 2nd trimester go backwards a solid 90 degrees on stage (I haven't been comfortable going much further than that as my own precaution) but I am starting to look into slowing down once I enter the final trimester.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Backbends in 2nd Trimester
I just know that there is a lot of pressure to not sleep on your back so after some thinking I became really curious about how stretching and backbends fall into the play. I wasn't performing during my first pregnancy so this is like being pregnant for the first time all over again since it's a very new situation.
