I'm curious...how many if any words does your lo use. I don't know how to create a poll and only bump mobile. We don't currently have any just lots of noises.
No words since she doesn't understand the meaning yet. But she says lots of ma-ma, da-da, and ba-ba. She did start waving though which is adorable and a way of communicating!

We have a number of noises that sound like words, but I don't really know if she understands the meaning yet. Sounds I've heard are ma-ma (and something that sounds really like "mommy!" when she is REALLY upset), da-da, ba-ba, ga-ga, ah-goo and various other combinations. DH and I also could have sworn we've heard things that sound like "hey", "hi", "hungry", "I love you" at various times, but I'm pretty sure that's just imitation of sounds she hears + wishful thinking on our part :-P I do respond appropriately to whatever I think I hear though -- if nothing else it's encouragement

My LO says these too, but like you said, I don't think she's saying them with any meaning behind them.
My Pregnancy/Parenting BLOG TTC since 5/2011, BFP #1 12/3/11, M/C 12/7/11 @ 4wks 2d. Began seeing RE Sep 2012. Mine waves too! So cute! He babbles and understands a lot. For instance he will behave during a diaper change if u warn gun it's about to happen. No warning equals tears and a fit. I ask him "where is..." And name something familiar. He will look at the correct object/person/pet. It's a start!
Is anyone trying baby sign language? We're kind of half assing it but some is sinking in. He's started using the signs for "dog" and "change" sporadically but they're in the right contexts.
"Mother, I'm hungry, I'd like some milk" And... "Not the car again, I hate the car" Oh, and don't forget... "If we stay really quiet (whispering), the cat will walk right by us, shhh"
Mine will crane his neck around in the car to look at me and say "mama" I know he knows and understands that word, but I'm not sure if he's purposefully using it in context or not. If I'm not around, he will occasionally look at Dustin and say "mama?" like a question. Dustin just tells him where I am and that I'll be back soon and he goes back to playing. Still not sure if it's really talking though. He says "ma" when he wants another bite of food. I'm trying to teach him the sign for "more" He signs for milk appropriately though - that one for sure is purposeful!
We are doing baby sign and I'm pretty consistent with it. Milk is the only one he reliably does though.
He says dada a lot but I don't think he means anything by it. He does sometimes say 'mama' when he's upset or wants to nurse. Occasionally he says something that sounds a lot like "Ezra". But again, I don't think there's a whole lot of meaning behind anything he says right now.
Same here. Lots of babbling, no meanings. She did wave the other day which was adorable! She will also look at the person/object if we ask her where it is. I don't know much ASL but I incorporate what I can, along with some Spanish, and English as our primary.
Lo just started hand waving last week, but only with the right hand.
She ahs said dada but no meaning to it. recently she has started add in Mama when she is up set. Not sure if she is beginning to understand that one. This weekends favorite sound was ad-da on each step when she crawled. it is so cute!!!

He is QUITE the chatterbox these days.
He started clapping though and expects you to say "yaaaaaay" every time he does it.
We did baby sign with my first and it was great. We did milk, eat, more, and please. There might have been a few others, but those were the main ones.
