Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Can we talk food/milk intake for a moment...

So it's been a while since my last was around this age so I can't remember what I was doing. I am trying to figure out when I start changing my son's eating schedule - spacing out bottles now that we are upping his solids. Right now I feel like my feeding schedule is a bit out of whack. Can anyone tell me what your doing at about 8 months? My son now that we figured out some medical issues we have been able to feed him solids and he is going to town on them. Here is what I am doing...not sure what or where to change or add more snacks for him in between. Our Pedi told us we could drop the night feeding but if he wakes I have been continuing to feed him. Thank in advance!
  • 7:30-8 a 5 oz bottle of BM - 5 oz of oatmeal

Re: Can we talk food/milk intake for a moment...

  • You are pretty in line with what we are doing and our Pedi gave it a greenlight for us

My LO is 7.5 months and eats a bit less solids than your little guy (3oz of fruit or veg 2x a day) and a bit more milk (~27oz tot).  DD is still on the small side so we've focused more on milk just because it has more calories, but it sounds like you have a good routine going.

    5am 5oz milk
    8am 3oz solids + 3oz milk
    11am 5oz milk
    2pm 5oz milk
    5pm 5oz milk
    6:15p 3oz solids
    (bath)
    7:00p 4oz milk
    (bed)

  • I have been wondering About this too because in really not sure if they are getting enough milk now that they are eating solids. Can I just ask and I don't mean to high jack the post but do you guys give solids then milk or milk then solids?
  • Thanks guys! I give milk, then solids. But not at the same time. Usually hour or half hour between.

    11:30am - 7 oz Bottle of BM

    12:30pm - 2-3 oz purees

    4:00pm - 2-4 oz bottle of BM

6:30pm - 3 oz purees and BF (likely around 3 oz - if I am not home thats what she will eat from a bottle)

9:00pm - BF or if i'm not home 4-5 oz bottle of BM
  • Nice so I guess we are all on pretty much the same schedules with Bfding. Mine since he has been teething has dropped two bottles the past two days so we shall see how long this lasts.
