Working Moms

It happened....

It was inevitable. I knew this. I just didn't know when it would happen.....

My boss totally just walked in on me pumping. I share my office with him and one other male co-worker. When they are both gone I lock the door and pump at my desk.

Boss guy showed up unannounced and walked in. Luckily, I heard him coming up the stairs so "just in case" I bent down so I was mostly covered under my desk. What kills me is he KNOWS I pump every day at this time. He KNOWS when both of them are gone I pump at my desk. Why he didn't text me before coming upstairs is beyond me.

BUT it was kinda priceless to see his face as he walked in and I said "Dont come in here!" and he stammered and yammered and got nervous and turned around and walked out. HAHA. He didn't see anything but my bare shoulders, and it was kinda funny since he was WAY more embarressed than I was.

I covered myself up and he came in and grabbed his computer and left promptly. Sure glad its Friday!

  • Why was the door not locked?
I would hide in a closet before I risked this. I would be so nervous that I bet I wouldn't let down.
Sorry this happened, hope he can recover!
  • Ok.... it WAS locked. he has a key but wasn't supposed to be here today. Today just happened to be the day his brain stopped working because he knows I pump in here when they are gone, so why he would think to unlock our locked Office knowing I was here is beyond me. Hence him being utterly mortified. He will probably never forget again though lol.

My shoulders were exposed because I wear normal work wear over a tank top so I take my shirt off and pull my tank top and nursing bra down.

I'm not embarrassed.... he was though!

  • After being walked in on, despite locked doors, I put up a little sign before I pumped.

Same.  And I worked in an office that was small and had an open door policy - so I was the only one with the door closed and everyone was supposed to know what that meant.
I also would drag one of my chairs over and put it in front of the door.

Same here. I think my boss was just in such a hurry he didn't think about it (not to mention the fact that he wasn't even supposed to be here at all today).

It's not a big deal, Im not upset about it. They're just boobs for crying out loud, this was more of a "haha, facepalm" kind of post...

  • haha I would die.  I can't even deal with the fact that my boss asked me if I was going to my "little room" today when he saw me with my cooler.  He is just not the person you want to talk about pumping with
  • I had a few incidients like this, since I pumped in an unlocked conference room. haha I always wore my nursing cover so that I was hidden!

    This is genius. GENIUS.

I feel dumb that I haven't thought about that....

  • I made a sign upon which I drew a picture of a cow and wrote "Please Knock" which I hung on my door whenever I pumped because my office door doesn't lock.
  • I used to have a sign that I could stick by velcro to the door that sad "Do not disturb" and it was printed on neon green paper.  Could you do something like that?

    Why yes. Yes I could.

  • Subtlety did not prevent 3 people who felt utterly (haha see what I did there?) entitled to walk in my office. So I replaced the picture of my son surrounded by DO NOT ENTER with " Do not enter for any reason." And shoved a binder under my door.

With dd I just wrote "nursing do not enter." It's worked very well.

Why are people so blind? When I have to pump in our (locked) conference room because the guys in my office are there I just put the red meeting in progress sign on the door and haven't had any issues. You would think explicitly stating "do not enter" would get the point across that no one should be going into that room...
