Fitness Friday!

I'll kick today off!

Pre-weight loss program (2013) - 165(ish) lbs.
Pre-pregnancy weight after lifestyle change (up to June 2014) - 135 lbs.
Weight at 24 weeks + 2 days - 154 lbs. (this morning)

19 pounds in 20+ weeks sounds reasonable, and my OB isn't concerned. Since about 16 I've naturally hovered in the 140s-150s (which puts me in the overweight category at 5'3"), she thinks my body is trying to go back to my "natural" size while gaining. I don't know what that means, but I'm frustrated to see all my hard work disappearing. Anyone else felt like this?

I had to cut back on my normal routine since it was pretty ab/back focused, and I can't get through an entire set of anything upper body anymore. (I always struggled with upper anyway.) Right now I'm walking daily and doing chores like sweeping/mopping hoping to keep some tone that way. I want to do more. I'm just always so exhausted. Boo.

Anywho, my philosophy is even the best diet/cleanse won't do diddly unless you do something with your body.

How are you altering your eating habits?
Have you incorporated exercise into your routine? Are you struggling to incorporate it in or confused where to start?
Are you trying/struggling to gain weight?
Any unhealthy habits you want to quit and need to be supported doing so?

Re: Fitness Friday!

  • Im at 115 which is the most ive ever weighed. Im okay with my weight but i want to get toned back up.

So far im doing good about not smoking.

After my delightful bought of flu im finally going to start working out.

@St3wd dont worry so much about your weight on the scale. Just focus on taking care of yourself. The better shapr your in now the easier labor can be and the easier it can be to get your body back.

  • @MinnesotaMomma91 Yay on not smoking!  <:-P Do you have a time of day your aiming for to do your workouts?

I don't really care too much about the actual weight since I've got the genetics of heavy muscles, but I'm mostly frustrated that I'm too tired/not supposed to work out like I had been. I felt more in control of how I thought and acted when I was able to find quiet time during my workout. Now I'm constantly frazzled. :(

  • I need to make a plan. Lol. I went from a size 18 to barely fitting in size 20 (tried on clothes at the thrift store over the weekend to finally stop wearing maternity pants...). My main problem is breakfast. When I get a chance to eat breakfast, it's usually a bagel w/ cream cheese or a breakfast burrito from target (brand is Sweet Earth). Today's burrito: Curry Tiger. Indian food in a burrito. Sounds disgusting but it is fucking AWESOME.

  • Boooooo, go workout @MinnesotaMomma91

@20thirteen What kind of schedule do you keep/when do you have time to get moving? Have you tried adding in things like parking farther away or taking stairs?

  • I keep telling myself I'm going to take the stairs at work but I don't have reason to go to the first floor during the day (I work on the 3rd floor). And I get here early, when the caffeine hasn't quite hit me and I usually get to my desk and hit myself for getting on the elevator. As for parking farther away, I do that anyway. Especially in the fall/winter, because I prefer colder weather to warmer weather.

Days I have longer lunch breaks I take walks to and in the forest preserve nearby. Otherwise I'm running errands.

  • I am trying to be more active with DD, instead of playing games that usually allow me to sit and not move too much. Little things but I am going to call the gym and ask about the kids club membership, see if that is still active.

  • I definitely understand the caffenine bit. :P

Do you watch tv/news in the evening? Doing some exercises during the commercials is considered interval training, which is shown to be highly effective to kick off weight loss.

The kid's programs at gyms can be really nice, especially if you attend a class. Chances are one of your classmates will have a kid or two in there, meaning H will make friends too! :)

Most people seem to have a need for accountability like paying for a class or a workout buddy who is expecting them to show up, but I'm the opposite. I don't like feeling like everyone is watching me, so I'll only stick to a workout schedule at home. I'm weird, but I'd rather flake on a class I've spent $200+ than having everyone judge me for being completely ungraceful. haha

  • Oh, it's not a kid's program, it's like a daycare thing. Kids play with other kids while you work out.  So I gotta call them.  I know DD had at least one friend there...

Guess who remembered to take the stairs this morning?
